Coming off a solid 2022 campaign the Saguaro Sabercats were eliminated in the 2nd round of the playoffs to Mesquite High School. The Sabercats finished their season with a 12-6 record, and 11-4 in conference play. While the Saguaro club maybe young on paper they are lead by starting pitcher and OF Cameron Caminiti (Louisiana State Commit). The L/L Caminiti is the #2 ranked player nationally, showcasing a 96mph arm from the left side and a smooth swing from the left side. Caminti had a 3.3 ERA in his freshman campaign with a .329BA 10 doubles 2 triples and a homerun. Caminti is one of the countries most talked about players for the 2025 MLB draft. While Caminiti is only going into his sophomore season, he will play a huge role in the Saguaros postseason hopes this season. The projected #2 starter for the Sabercats is junior Cade Shumard. The big lefty had 7 appearances last season with a 2.8 ERA and a FB topping out at 88 mph. Shumard is the #28 ranked prospect in the state, giving opponents a tough matchup no matter who is on the mound for the Sabercats. Going into his senior season Tanner Nelson (Yavapai JC Commit) proved to be one of the top returning hitters for the Sabercats. In his junior campaign Nelson hit .296 with 7 doubles 2 triples and 4 homeruns. The top projected newcomer for the Sabercats is the #10 ranked player in the 2026 class, SS Zander Bratspis. Bratspis joined us this past summer at the Junior Future Games showcasing a high level glove and some serious bat speed at the plate. The Arizona staff looks forward to following Saguaro this spring as they look to bounce back from their 2022 campaign and be in contention for a 4A state title this season.
