6/27/18 - 6-foot, 170-pounds. Baez was flying somewhat under the radar for a period of time after missing a significant portion of 2017 with injury, but that has changed recently. Swing shows advanced rhythm and ability to be on time in game action with natural loft in swing. Baez posted a personal best 91 mph exit velocity and has always taken an impressive BP, but has now made significant improvements on defense where he now looks likely to remain up the middle. His 87 mph infield velocity represented a significant improvement from the past and he has always played faster than his 7.26 60-time would indicate due to instincts. Baez shows significant present strength in his developed upper and has a chance to become very physical with continued development.

1/28/18 - 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. Developed upper body with impressive strength in forearms and wrists. Looks heavier than listed weight. Clearly one of the top two hitters at a loaded event. While he doesn't possess elite athleticism or arm strength, he can be a factor offensively at any school in the country and his instincts allow him to play above his tools defensively. Projects as an offensive 2B or possibly 3B at the next level and has a chance to be an immediate impact guy on offense with elite ability to be on time and drive the baseball. Took an impressive BP, with a big leg kick that he gets started early and a deep hand load. Left a big yard in BP and made loud contact during the game; 88 mph exit velocity. Arm is not a standout tool, but does a good job with his feet creating momentum through his target and made range plays in game. Turned in 81 mph infield velo and 7.13 60-yard dash in some of his first live action after missing the entire summer and part of the fall with injury. One of the top uncommitted prospects in the state.

12/16/17 - Impressed in one of his first performances coming off injury. There is little question about his offensive ability as he produced hard contact all over the field and has surprising pop (90 mph exit velocity) for his present physical stature. With a big early leg-lift trigger, Baez excels at being on time, loading his hands very deep to a near arm bar and getting lots of backside rotation in his swing. Despite not being an elite runner (7.32 60-yard dash), Baez moves well on defense, getting good reads off the bat and has a strong chance to stay up the middle in college. He showed softness in his hands and the ability to throw from multiple angles. There is no question he can be a strong contributor at a high level.
