Tucson Summer Review: Scouting Reports

Paul Panaccione
Arizona Scouting Director

On Aug. 29, 2021 Prep Baseball Report Arizona hosted the Tucson Summer Review at Kino Sports Complex. The Tucson Summer Review is an annual open showcase accessible to the high school players in the Phoenix area, granting players the opportunity to be evaluated by the PBR Arizona staff while their tools were analyzed by state-of-the-art technologies on-site.

With some talented players in attendance, there were some standout performances. Along with the standout performances, there were some standout bodies and actions with much projectability. One of those players with some upside was Derek Montijo (Nogales, 2023). At 6-foot-3 190 pounds, Montijo moves gracefully in the infield and has a smooth swing. Christopher Humphreys (Canyon Del Oro, 2024) was also in attendance. Physical build with athletic actions, Humphreys will be a player to watch once more reps and at bats come. The New Mexico St commit, Milo Rushford (Walden Grove, 2022) was loud with the bat. Left the yard a couple times in batting practice, and showed his arm is a tool of his as well. And Sal Valenzuela (Nogales, 2024) showed some upside on the mound, with a clean arm and a projectable body.

Today, we finalize the event with each individual player’s analysis.
