WEEK 6: ARIZONA SCOUT BLOG

#25 Williams Field 11 vs Betty H. Fairfax 0

Tyler Cram 2B / 3B / Williams Field, AZ / 2023

The uncommitted middle infielder had a standout day at the plate for the Williams Field Black Hawks, going 3-4 at the plate with 3 doubles and 3 RBI's. Cram showed the ability to work the ball the other way with some power as all 3 of his doubles were shots into the opposite field gap. While Cram is the starting short stop for the Black Hawks, he profiles as a second baseman at the next level.

Kenan Harvey 1B / OF / Williams Field , AZ / 2023

The Alabama State Commit Harvey was getting it done on both sides of the diamond for the Black Hawks in yesterdays matchup. Harvey made the start on the mound with 5 innings of work and making it look easy with 0 earned runs on 7 strikeouts. At the plate Harvey was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. The hit tool was a standout for the Alabama State commit, his strong athletic build was hard to miss as there is plenty more juice to come down the road with the bat.

Andrew Griffin RHP / OF / Williams Field , AZ / 2023

The uncommitted 2023 had a 1-3 day at the plate with 2 RBI's. The at bat that stuck out was this line drive out to center field in the middle innings. Griffin showed good balance in the box and the ability to work to the middle of the field with a flat direct path that showed to have some bat speed. With added strength and size it will be good to see where Griffin projects defensively in the outfield.

Mathew Griffin C / OF / Williams Field, AZ / 2023

Uncommitted catcher Mathew Griffin had a 2-2 day at the plate including this single to left field. Griffen showed quality balance in the box with the ability to use both sides of the field. Griffen has a flat path that works long through the zone with good extension through the baseball. Like his brother, with added strength and size we will likely see Griffen up the power numbers and work into a more gap to gap type prospect.

Desert Ridge 9 vs #21 Liberty 7

Carter Macanas SS / 3B / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2026

One of the more exciting players to watch in the 2026 class, uncommitted shortstop and JFG alum Carter Macanas. Macanas is making his presents known as a true freshman on varsity hitting .341 with 2 doubles and a triple. While Macanas still has lots of room to grow physically, he is one of, if not the best defender up the middle in the 2026 class.

Joseph Vargas 3B / 1B / Liberty , AZ / 2023

Coming off the bench for the Lions late in the game was uncommitted corner infielder Joseph Vargas. Vargas came up in a big spot late in the game with the bases loaded shooting one into the right center field gap for a bases clearing double. Vargas has an athletic build with short direct path at the plate.

Landon Getreu 1B / LHP / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2024

With a 1-2 day at the plate including a clutch RBI single late in the game is uncommitted first baseman and left handed pitcher Landon Getreu. Getreu started off the game with a sac fly to left to put the Jaguars on the board and followed it up with this shot to left center field for another RBI. Getreu has a stalky build with some power in the bat and showed his ability to use the left side of the field.

Logan Spetz OF / RHP / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2024

Uncommitted outfielder and right handed pitcher Logan Spetz had a great day at the plate going 2-3 with a double down the left field line and a shot to right for a single. Spetz showed his ability to control the barrel with 2 strikes while shortening his load and working his hands to the middle of the field.

Caden Truman SS / 2B / Desert Ridge , AZ / 2024

Uncommitted middle infielder Caden Truman, had the big swing of the day sending one deep over the right field wall for a solo home run. Truman is a switch hitter at the plate with a simple leg lift load and quick flat path through the zone. Truman has shown to be solid defensively with good range and an accurate arm.

#2 Hamilton 13 vs #1 Mountain Ridge 3

Carson McEntire OF / 1B / Mountain Ridge, AZ / 2023

One of the top draft prospects in the state of Arizona and Oregon State commit Carson McEntire, has some of the best all around tools in Arizona. McEntire showed them off in Thursday's matchup against Hamilton driving one to the opposite field for a home run. Defensively McEntire has +speed in the OF with sub 6.5 speed, high level tracking ability and an above average arm.

Jaylen Payne OF / SS / Hamilton , AZ / 2025

A rising star for the Hamilton Huskies is starting center fielder Jaylen Payne. Payne has shown on multiple occasions that his tracking ability in center is one of the best in the state across all grad classes. At the plate Payne has shown hitterish tendencies with above average bat to ball skills for his age. With added strength and size you will likely see Payne rise in the rankings in the years to come.

Cannon Peery 1B / 3B / Mountain Ridge, AZ / 2023

Top Uncommitted first baseman in the state of Arizona Cannon Peery started Thursday nights matchup off with a bang, driving one into the right field gap for a lead off Triple. Peery has been a force for the Mountain Lions in the leadoff spot as he has shown to put the ball in play consistently with the ability to lose a baseball at any given time. Defensively Peery has shown to be a reliable first baseman with athleticism. At the next level we likely see Peery staying at first base or moving to a corner outfield.

Roch Cholowsky SS / 3B / Hamilton , AZ / 2023

The player of the game on Thursday night was the number 1 draft prospect in the state of Arizona, UCLA commit Roch Cholowsky. Cholowsky was 4-4 on the night, including 2 majestic bombs over the left field wall. Cholowsky finished the game in style hitting a run rule walk off shot down the left field line for a stand up double.
