Today marks the Sixth AIA Power 25 update of the season after a busy week of games. With some major upsets and new teams making statements in the middle of the season, the Arizona staff has made adjustments to the AIA Power 25 Rankings. PBR Arizona has been scouting games, and gathering info from coaches as we approached this day so we could guarantee you our best effort while covering the high school season. Each week, the Power 25 rankings will be updated, along with: team notes, and Game of the day coverage. When looking at season records below, we are only posting the regular season AIA records.

heating up down south

+Nogales (11-0) - Starting the season in the #18 spot in the PBR AIA Power 25 Pre Season Rankings and coming in at the #11 spot, is the Nogales Apaches. The Apaches are off to an impressive 11-0 start more than halfway through the season with top wins over Tucson High and Canyon Del Oro. At the plate the Tribe are lead by uncommitted senior Alain Garcia, smooth swinging uncommitted lefty David Zazueta and New Mexico commit Derek Monitjo. Garcia is leading the team with an astonishing .487 avg, Zazueta is hitting .407 and Montijo .383. On the mound the Tribe have been lights out with a team ERA of 2.61 and leading the charge, is junior Arizona commit Sal Valenzuela. 

+Catalina Foothills (10-0) - Next on the hot list is the Catalina Foothills Falcons. The Falcons came into the season unranked and have moved their way up to the #15 spot in the AIA Power 25. Off to a 10-0 start to the season, the Falcons have had notable wins against Canyon Del Oro, Salpointe and a huge win in the Boras classic against the #2 Basha Bears. The Falcons are lead by senior Grand Canyon commit Troy Sanders who is currently leading the team with a .418 avg. On the mound leading the charge for the Falcons has been senior left handed pitcher Ethan Bell. Bell has a 3-0 record on the season with a .95 ERA. 

+Tucson (12-1) - Another team starting the season unranked and moving their way up to the #16 spot is the Tucson Badgers. The Badgers are sitting at an impressive 11-1 record in the 6A division with notable wins against Sahuaro and Sunnyside. The Badgers took on #11 Nogales early in the season and lost in a tight 1-0 final. Tucson has a tough road ahead leading into the playoffs as they will take on Salpointe Catholic and Catalina Foothills. 

+Salpointe (11-1) - Making their first appearance to the top 25 in the week 4 update and moving their way up to the #21 spot is the Salpointe Catholic Lancers. The Lancers are off to an 11-1 start to the season and 7-0 start in conference with tops wins against Canyon Del Oro, Sahuaro and Walden Grove. Like the Badgers the Lancers have a tough road ahead before making their playoff push as they take on #16 Tucson, Canyon Del Oro and #11 Nogales.
