Preseason All State Upperclass: Quick Hits

On the weekend of, February 1-2, Prep Baseball Report Arizona hosted the Upperclass Preseason All State Games at Apollo High School. The Upperclass Preseason All State Games is an invite only showcase provided for players in the 2028-2027 classes in the state of Arizona. Giving the players the chance to showcase their skills in front of the PBR Arizona Staff using state-of-the-art technology on field. 

Today, we’ll start by giving you the Top Performers from the Upperclass Showcase, which we like to call Quick Hits. Alain Gómez Gudino C / 3B / Saguaro, AZ / 2026

Alain Gomez, the #2 ranked prospect in Arizona’s 2026 class and a South Carolina commit, continues to solidify himself as one of the premier backstops in the state. The switch-hitting catcher brings a rare blend of defensive polish and offensive firepower, excelling in all aspects behind the plate with elite receiving, blocking, and a strong, accurate arm. At the plate, Gomez generates impressive power from both sides, recording a 101.7 mph max exit velocity at the Preseason All-State event. As he continues to develop, Gomez is poised to be one of the top draft prospects in Arizona for the 2026 class.

 

 

Ryan Harwood OF / RHP / Casteel, AZ / 2026

Ranked as the #3 prospect in Arizona’s 2026 class, Ryan Harwood continues to prove why he’s one of the most exciting players in the state. The outfielder for the two-time state champion Casteel Colts is no stranger to Prep Baseball, having attended the 2024 Pro Case at Pepperdine University as an underclassman. Over the past few months, Harwood has made intriguing swing adjustments, and the results were on full display at the Preseason All-State event, where he launched balls with true backspin, posting an event-high 104.1 mph exit velocity and a max distance of 406 feet. Standing at a physically imposing frame, Harwood is a powerhouse at the plate and will be a force in the SEC at Texas A&M. On top of his offensive dominance, he also recorded the top outfield velocity of the event at 94 mph, further solidifying his status as one of the premier prospects in the 2026 class.

 

 

Henry Verhamme SS / RHP / Cactus Shadows, AZ / 2026

Henry Verhamme, a 2026 two-way prospect and middle infielder from Cactus Shadows High School, delivered a standout performance during the Preseason All State event. Known for his great speed, delivering an impressive 6.71 on the 60-yard dash which registered as the top time of the event. His fielding display included second best infield throwing velocity of 89 MPH showing fluidity in his feet at the ability to get to tough groundballs with deep range. Henry impressed on the mound with an event top 4 fastball velocity of 87.4 MPH and the ability to land a breaking ball. With his ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball, Verhamme has established himself as one of Arizona’s two-way premier prospects in the 2026 class.

 

 

Jackson Weber SS / C / Horizon, AZ / 2026

Jackson Weber, a versatile utility player from Horizon High School and Arizona State commit, put together a strong showing at the Preseason All-State event. Weber showcased his offensive prowess with a 100.6 mph exit velocity, consistently driving balls to all fields with authority. Defensively, he works primarily up the middle and behind the plate, demonstrating a strong glove and a solid arm across the infield. Behind the dish, Weber impressed with a consistent sub-2.0 pop time, recording a low of 1.91 while putting throws right on the bag. His ability to impact the game both offensively and defensively makes him one of the top players to watch in Arizona’s 2026 class.

 

 

Conor Rae SS / OF / Corona del Sol, AZ / 2027

Conor Rae, a 2027 UTIL and the #3 ranked prospect in the state of Arizona, put together an impressive showing at the Upperclass Preseason All-State event this past weekend. Now at Corona Del Sol High School, Rae joins a powerhouse program gearing up for a strong 2025 season. He showcased his standout tools, including elite arm strength and power at the plate. During game play, Rae drove a ball to the opposite field, clearing the right fielder for extra bases, and later showcased his athleticism by stealing home in the same inning. With his well-rounded skill set and high-level tools, Rae continues to prove why he is one of the top prospects in the 2027 class.

 

 

Zander Bratspis SS / Saguaro, AZ / 2026

Zander Bratspis, a 2026 middle infielder and Kansas State commit from Saguaro High School, is the true definition of a blue-collar prospect. Bratspis was the leading hitter for Team Arizona at the 2024 Future Games in LakePoint, GA, proving his ability to perform against top competition. He is a true gamer who does everything at a high level, whether it’s making tough plays up the middle with smooth defensive actions or grinding out quality at-bats. Bratspis consistently puts the ball in play with authority, showing his ability to compete and produce in any situation. His well-rounded skill set and high-level approach make him one of the most reliable and exciting prospects in Arizona’s 2026 class.

 

 

Parker Rahn 3B / 1B / Hamilton, AZ / 2026

Parker Rahn, a 2026 corner infielder from Hamilton High School, delivered a solid overall performance during the Preseason All State event. Known for his high-level bat speed and sneaky power, Rahn consistently posted top exit velocities, peaking at an impressive 101.1 mph. His display of power included a top 3 max distance of 393 feet during batting practice. He also showed good defensive work with his infield play through smooth fielding fundamentals. With his ability to impact the game with his bat and glove, Rahn has established himself as one of Arizona’s premier corner infield prospects in the 2026 class.

 

 

Frank Gearhart 1B / RHP / Hamilton, AZ / 2026

Frank Gearhart, a 2026 smooth-swinging two-way prospect from Hamilton High School, delivered a standout performance at the plate during the Preseason All-State event. Known for his high-level bat speed, he posted the second-highest average exit velocity of the day at 95.7 mph. His quick hands through the zone contributed to his impressive 25.6 mph maximum hand speed, the second highest recorded at the event. Gearhart also created a top-tier average hard-hit percentage of 75% for his BP rounds. His offensive firepower was on full display during game play when he crushed a triple off the right-field wall. With his plus-plus bat skills and power production, Gearhart is one of the top-ranked offensive first basemen in the state.

 

 

Kyle Miiller 1B / LHP / Saguaro, AZ / 2026

Kyle Miiller, a first baseman and left-handed pitcher from Saguaro High School, is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state of Arizona. Miiller possesses an above-average frame with the potential for plus power from the left side. During his BP portion at the Preseason All-State event, he showcased a flat, whippy bat path that generated deep fly balls and hard line drives, recording a max exit velocity of 95.1 mph. Defensively, he displays everything you want in a first baseman at the next level, with smooth footwork and a strong glove. As he continues to develop, Miiller is a name to watch closely in the 2026 class.

 

 

Ryan Bresaw RHP / 3B / Basha, AZ / 2026

Ryan Bresaw, a 2026 right-handed pitcher out of Basha High School, showcased his electric arsenal at the Preseason All-State event, topping out at 91 mph with his fastball—the hardest of the day. The big righty paired his heater with a sharp breaking ball and a quality changeup, effectively keeping hitters off balance. Bresaw filled up the zone throughout his outing, generating a high number of whiffs with his three-pitch mix. With his ability to attack hitters and command the strike zone, Bresaw is set to play a crucial role on the mound for the Bears this spring.

 

 

Devin Morganfield RHP / OF / Valley Christian, AZ / 2026

Devin Morganfield, a 2026 right-handed pitcher out of Valley Christian High School, displayed a quality three-pitch mix during his outing at the Preseason All-State event. While his command was inconsistent at times, he effectively generated swings and misses on pitches out of the zone. Morganfield’s long levers added deception to his arsenal, making it difficult for hitters to pick up his pitches. He worked efficiently in the 87-89 mph range with his fastball, showing the potential for even more velocity as he continues to develop. Morganfield’s size and raw stuff make him an intriguing arm to follow in the 2026 class.

 

 

Braxton Bjur LHP / OF / Verrado, AZ / 2025

Braxton Bjur, a left-handed pitcher out of Verrado High School, was arguably the most polished arm of the weekend, showcasing impressive command and efficiency on the mound. Bjur consistently filled up the zone with strikes, generating weak contact and keeping hitters off balance. Sitting 86-88 mph with his fastball, he displayed excellent arm-side run, making it a difficult pitch to barrel up. His ability to command the zone and control tempo makes him a key arm to watch this spring, as he is expected to play a significant role for Verrado.
