On Sunday, February 9th, Prep Baseball Report Arizona hosted the Mesa Preseason ID at Desert Ridge High School in, Peoria AZ. The ID events are an open event held for prospects in the 2028-2025 classes in the state of Arizona, giving the players the chance to showcase their skills in front of the PBR Arizona Staff using state-of-the-art technology on field.

Brody Cox LHP / LHP / Queen Creek, AZ / 2026

Brody Cox, a 2026 left-handed pitcher from Queen Creek High School and LMU commit, made a significant impact at the Mesa ID event this past Sunday. His fastball exploded out of the hand, topping at 91.2 mph while consistently sitting 89-91 and filling up the zone with strikes. Cox also showcased a firm slider that reached 79 mph, adding to his impressive arsenal. His dominant performance made him one of the biggest eye-openers at the event, and he is poised to be a key arm for the reigning 6A state champion Queen Creek Bulldogs this upcoming season.

 

 

Blake Gonzales 3B / RHP / Hamilton, AZ / 2027

Blake Gonzales, the #5 ranked prospect in Arizona’s 2027 class, put on a show during Sunday’s workout at the Mesa ID, recording an exit velocity of 101mph. The Hamilton High School standout is a true two-way prospect, displaying high-level power at the plate and a strong defensive presence at third base with smooth actions and a big arm across the diamond. On the mound, Gonzales topped out at 90 mph, continuing to showcase his ability to generate velocity while filling up the zone. With his elite tools on both sides of the ball, Gonzales remains a must-follow as he continues to develop into one of the top prospects in the state.

 

 

Layne Henry SS / RHP / NOTRE DAME PREPARATORY, AZ / 2026

Layne Henry, a 2026 middle infielder and right-handed pitcher from Notre Dame Prep, was one of the more eye-opening prospects at the Mesa Preseason ID. He showcased impressive defensive ability up the middle with smooth actions and an 82 mph arm across the infield. Henry’s arm strength stood out even more from the outfield, where he reached 92 mph. At the plate, he displayed a clean right-handed swing, producing consistent barrels with low, hard contact. On the mound, Henry ran his fastball up to 89.5 mph, further solidifying himself as a high-follow prospect heading into the spring season at NDP.

 

 

Kelton Floan SS / OF / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2026

Kelton Floan, a 2026 utility player and right-handed pitcher from Desert Ridge High School, is a well-rounded athlete with tools that play at multiple positions. He posted an impressive 6.82 60-yard dash, showcasing his athleticism. Defensively, Floan has a smooth glove and a strong arm, reaching 89 mph across the infield and 91 mph from the outfield. On the mound, he sits 85-86 mph with the fastball and features a sharp slider with 2400+ RPM spin. At the plate, Floan has a compact swing that consistently drives the ball to the big part of the field with hard contact. His versatility makes him a high-follow prospect heading into the spring.

 

 

Parker Rahn 3B / 1B / Hamilton, AZ / 2026

Parker Rahn, a 2026 corner infielder from Hamilton High School, continued to impress at the Mesa ID, building on his strong showing at the Preseason All-State event. Known for his elite bat speed and power, Rahn raised his max exit velocity to 103.4 mph, marking the event high. His ability to drive the ball with authority was further showcased with a max distance of 353 feet during BP. Defensively, he displayed smooth fielding fundamentals and solid actions at the corner infield spots. With his continued offensive development and defensive reliability, Rahn has solidified himself as one of Arizona’s premier corner infield prospects in the 2026 class.

 

 

Tre Hallberg 3B / OF / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2027

Tre Hallberg, a 2027 graduate out of Desert Ridge High School, continues to establish himself as one of the top power bats in his class. After posting an impressive 101.9 mph exit velocity at the Preseason All-State event, Hallberg put on a show at the Mesa Preseason ID, launching multiple balls over the left field wall during BP—one even landing on the softball field beyond the fence. His ability to drive the baseball with authority makes him a key offensive weapon for Desert Ridge. Expect Hallberg to play a major role in the team’s success over the next three seasons as one of their top run producers.

 

 

Lincoln Demmons C / 3B / Basha, AZ / 2027

Lincoln Demmons, a top prospect in Arizona’s 2027 class, showcased his two-way ability at the Mesa ID, excelling both behind the plate and at the corners. Offensively, Demmons displayed a high-intensity swing, generating a 100.4 mph exit velocity with a mix of hard line drives and deep fly balls. Defensively, he stood out behind the dish, recording the second-best pop times of the day at 1.89-2.00 seconds with a strong 79 mph arm. His all-around skill set makes him a high-follow prospect moving forward.

 

 

Maddon DelaCruz SS / C / Corona Del Sol, AZ / 2027

Maddon DelaCruz, a 2027 catcher from Corona Del Sol High School, had one of the most impressive defensive performances of the event, leading all catchers with pop times ranging from 1.87-1.94 seconds. His quick transfer and strong arm allow him to control the running game effectively. At the plate, DelaCruz took a line-drive approach, consistently barreling baseballs with a max exit velocity of 95 mph. His well-rounded skill set and advanced defensive ability make him a top catching prospect to watch in Arizona’s 2027 class.
