The Road to the California State Games begins with the 2023 California high school baseball season. With the season just around the corner, our staff has begun putting out team previews from all around the state, getting you prepared for another year of exciting coverage.

Today we focus on the Tesoro Titans who are fresh off two CIF championships, one in the SS D2 playoffs and the SoCal D4 Regional playoffs despite finishing 6-6 in league play. The Titans finished with a healthy 28-8 overall record last year, and with a solid group of returning starters plus skilled newcomers, Tesoro expects this balance of talent and experience to help them succeed this season.

Jackson Kemmerer (2023, OF) - Nevada Reno commit; "Big bat in our line-up, can run and hit for power."

Jackson Peper (2023, 1B) - Chaminade Univ. commit; "Gap to gap power, has the ability to hit for high average and drive in a lot of runs"

Kyle Volpe (2024, RHP) - Long Beach St Commit; "Big strong body with high velocity (88-92); had a good sophomore season for us last year."

Carter Jorissen (Catcher) - "Three year starter; plus defensive skills behind plate, 1.9 pop time; can hit for average and will hit some doubles for us."

Jake Porter (RHP) - "Has a good mix with his pitches; 86-88 with plus breaking ball and good change up."

Ryan Rios (RHP) - "Big late addition for us last year as a sophomore and help in CIF title run. Won 5 consecutive starts for us at end of season."

Owen Faust (IF) - "Big season last year; 2nd Team All League; 2nd Team All-CIF; very dependable and consistent hitter in our lineup. He is primed for a big junior season."

Tanner Tobias (IF) - "Has potential to have a big season for us with his bat and glove at third base for us this season. Can hit for power and will drive in a lot of RBI's."

Logan Zakhar (LHP) - "Had a great season on the freshman team last year and a good summer. He has a big curveball and change up and is able to locate his fastball."
