VENTURA, CALIF. - As the entirety of the of the California High School sections are underway with regular season games Prep Baseball California will be highlighting weekly games of the week with some of the best matchups from all over the Golden State.
This week our staff has picked these four matchups as their top games of the week from around the State of California:

Game Preview:
The Sailors enter the matchup sitting at 4-1 on the season on the back of a stellar pitching staff who in five games have allowed two runs or less in four of those games while tossing one shutout. Their lone loss of the spring was the one game where they allowed over two runs. UCSB commit Gavin Guy has been dominant so far on the spring with 18 innings pitched, 30 total strikeouts and boasting a .39 ERA in that stretch. Cal Commit Ryan Williams has punched out four in six innings of work while adding a 1.17 ERA. SR. backstop Lucas Perez is fronting the Sailors offensive attack with an early season average of .444 including a double and .688 OBP. The Sea Kings come into this Sunset League showdown with a 6-1 total record and have gotten there on the strength of a consistently strong offensive effort. In five of the seven games so far this spring Corona Del Mar has scored five or more runs with a total of 37 runs scored. The pitching for the Sea Kings has been absolutely stellar all spring having allowed just 13 runs in those seven games for average of less than two runs per game while tossing four shutouts as a staff.

Game Preview:
The Titans are off to a torrid start with an offense that is averaging over six runs per game so far this year and four different regulars off to .400 or better starts in Gonzales, Reece, Carlie and Nobel with Dixon and McLean both over .300 nearly halfway into their 2025 spring schedule. On the mound Temescal Canyon has been dominant allong 16 total runs over 10 games with two shutouts and four one run allowed performances by their staff. Skaggs-Whittle has been the ace so far with 19 innings pitched and 33 total strikeouts with a 2.21 ERA, but Padden has not been far behind with an eye-popping .39 ERA over 18 innings with 16 strikeouts while both arms have picked up three wins against no losses. For the Rams they come in undefeated with a team that has dominated their first five games on each side of the game with 43 runs scored and five runs allowed posting a shutout and three one run allowed wins. Blackmon is fronting the staff with 13 innings pitched and 21 strikeouts with a .54 ERA, but Child and Bustamante have been very effective in smaller workloads with Child striking out 10 over five innings and Bustamante striking out 11 over six innings. Williams is off to an early season .500 start including four doubles with both Nelson and Blackmon hitting over .400. Child and Blackmon have the two homers for the Rams.

Game Preview:
The Panthers are coming into this non-league matchup boasting a powerful offense which on the year has plated 81 runs in just eight games for an average of over 10 runs per game including two games with over 10 runs and a 28 run explosion in another game. Arizona commit Deome is pacing the offense with an electric .542/.625/.875 slash line with five doubles, one homer and 13 RBIs with 13 runs scored. The Panthers have SR. Peck hitting .579 while JR. Zobel is off to a .400 start and JR. Palmer at .471 early in the spring. JR. hurler Davis has posted a 0.00 ERA in five innings of work with five Ks while Zobel is leading the team with 10 innings pitched, 11 Ks and a 3.50 ERA while SR. arm Ortez has thrown seven solid innings with five Ks and a 2.00 ERA. The Lions themselves are undefeated as the square off with Westpark in this two game set having scored 56 runs in seven games for an average of eight runs per game while allowing just 16 runs (slighlty over two runs per game) with four shutouts early in the season. JR. Silva is off to a torrid .562 start with four doubles and 10 RBIs with JR. Barber sitting at .455 as a regular including one double, four RBIs and 13 runs scored. Silva also fronts the pitching staffs work with a team leading 18 innings, 28 strikeouts, and four wins. JR. arm Salisbury has collected a win in 11 total innings while posting 18 Ks and currently tops the team with a 0.00 ERA and three hits allowed. Cuevas has been strong in his 4.2 innings of work with six strikeouts, one walk allowed, one win and a 0.00 ERA himself.

Game Preview:
An early season showdown between of talent-laden programs who have their hopes set on a deep run in the CIF-San Diego section playoffs come May of 2025 this will be a fantastic test for each squad. The Eagles enter the game off to a strong start at 2-0 early in the spring with a shutout win to their credit. Brenden Lewis the SR. two-way talent headed to Arizona State after he graduates is off to an outstanding start on each side of the game with a .400 average including a double, two RBIs and a run scored, but his nine innings of work on the bump are even more impressive with 16 Ks, no walks and just two hits allowed. Bailey has gone 3.2 innings early with four strikeouts and one hit allowed. Smith is off to a .429 start with a run scored while Miotti is at .400 with two RBIs and Pace has scored two runs. For St. Augustine their start has not quite been what they hoped, but SR. righthander Grayson Boles the Texas commit has started two games (likely to start this game) pitching to the tune of a 1.56 ERA over nine total innings with 11 strikeouts, three walks and three hits allowed. Higgins has been solid with three inings pitched, two Ks, two hits allowed and a 0.00 ERA. Saints has allowed three runs or less in three of their four games so far this spring. Offensively, SR. Tompkins is off to a strong .455 start with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored while FR. Choi has made the most of his opportunities posting an early spring .375 average while Shane Miranda is at .308 with a double and SR. Dunne has the Saints lone homer on the spring.
