BOTTOM LINE

2024 was a tough season for the Bulldogs with a mid-year coaching change that brought some on field struggles. With a new head coach in place and the development of key players across the board the talent in the program looks primed for a bounceback year. Figuring out the pitching staff beyond Carrillo will be paramount and how well the offense can produce will also be vital.

PREP BASEBALL CA STAFF’S TAKE

I saw Buena on 3 separate occasions in 2024 and the talent in the program below the Sr. class was readily apparent, but the turbulence to the program was apparent in how well they played in games. Now with a head coach in place and the tides having been stabilized the Bulldogs look to be on a much better course coming into 2025. The Channel League will be very strong up and down this year so competing at the top of the league will be difficult and the Bulldogs will need big years from Carrillo and Garcia in the Sr. class. But, just as important will be the ability of JRs. Barron, Trigo and Kaylor to not only take steps forward from solid Soph. seasons, but to become key performers and if the interesting Alonzo can help add production to the lineup the Bulldogs have a chance to be sneaky in 2025. - Steven Hardesty Assistant Scouting Director
