The 2025 California high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across California.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective CIF Section Championship Game, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview these individual programs across California. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings.

BOTTOM LINE

We are coming off a strong season in 2024, but definitely lost some key pieces off that roster which will provide opportunities for some new players to step in and show their ability. With likely the best defensive catcher in the section and strong pitching staff that will be backed up by sound, consistent infield defense we are going to be tough to score runs on. The question mark will be how much our offense can produce runs if we hit to our potential then we could put together another strong season in 2025. - Coach Patrick

PREP BASEBALL CA STAFF’S TAKE

Clovis West has been a consistently strong program at the very talented Central Section D1 level and within the highly competitive TRAC league where winning the league title is a difficult feat year in and year out with the talented programs within that league. Boasting a strong crop of SRs. who were a part of both a TRAC League Title team, a run to the CIF-CS D1 title game before dropping a tight game to the uber talented Granada squad in the CIF-Northern Regionals and that experience has this group ready to compete again in 2025. The Golden Eagles will be tested throughout the year by a strong schedule, but has the roster to eye another good season this spring, but they will have to play their abilities game in and game out facing down good competition each time they take the diamond. They are strong defensively up the middle of the diamond with Raygoza leading the way and have solid pitching staff showing depth in the rotation and bullpen. - Steven Hardesty Assistant Scouting Director
