Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across California.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective CIF Section Championship Game, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview these individual programs across California. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across California. Each week we will be releasing our Power 25, Players of the Week, Diamond Notes, podcasts, and much more.

BOTTOM LINE

We are going to strongly rely on the ability we show on the mound and defensively to be keys for giving us opportunities to win games because I think we are very good in each area. How well we hit and produce runs will determine in the end how much success we have this year. I like the potential our lineup has, but will have to see how it performs come spring time. - Coach Melton

PREP BASEBALL CA STAFF’S TAKE

Oak Ridge has had a history of being one of the more dominant teams in the NorCal area, Coach Melton does a really good job with his players and staff. The Trojans are in a very tough league but I think they have enough talent to have a good run in the playoffs. The staff of Malloy, Lamb, & Youdan will give them a strong chance on the pitching side, along with a couple relivers. It will be a heavy upperclass team, the bats will be the question this season, but I think they will be just fine, will figure out ways to win.

-NorCal Scouting Director, Hank LoForte
