The 2025 California high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across California.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective CIF Section Championship Game, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview these individual programs across California. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across California. Each week we will be releasing our Power 25, Players of the Week, Diamond Notes, podcasts, and much more.

BOTTOM LINE

We lost some key pieces of our 2024 squad that made it the the CIF-CCS D1 playoffs, but with a strong offensive group returning that has the ability to put up runs while also playing solid defense I like the potential on that side of the game. How well we throw the ball on the mound will be key to our potential of making another playoff run. - Coach Nakagawa

PREP BASEBALL CA STAFF’S TAKE

The Sharks will be fronted by the talented Nash Horton who committed to Pepperdine this fall and his nearly .500 in his JR. campaign with 16 extra base hits (tops on 2024 team) and drove in 33 runs (2nd on 2024 team) while both Fantl and and Fonseca will look to build on very strong seasons in 2024. They will have to replace the offensive production of a Sr. who graduated, but they look to have the offensive pieces returning to put up plenty of runs which helped them to a PCAL-Galiban league 2nd place finish. The mound is a slightly different story where all 4 of their best arms are gone to graduation, but if Dyer can take a step forward and a few other arms can rise to the occasion there is no reason this staff can't keep runs down and with the offensive pieces they have compete at the top of the league again in 2025 - Steven Hardesty
