Ryan Ozella
N. California Area Scout

Central Coast Section, CA - The Central Coast Section brackets and seeding are set and have created great matchups in each of the Divisions. Today we will look at five uncommitted players who have the chance to impact the Division 3 Playoffs for their teams. These five players were all seen during the regular season and have displayed skill sets worthy of a roster spot at the next level. Helping their team through a playoff run will could only boost their value.

Uncommitted CCS Division 3 Players

2021 OF JC Ng (Menlo School)

QUICK TAKE: OF has shown continued growth in his bat speed over the season and been the leader atop the lineup for Menlo School. Gap power currently with more pop as he continues to strengthen. Strong in CF with the ability to show good range. Offensive catalyst for the team will be needed on base for their best success in the Bracket.

2019 LHP Hunter Hanes (Pacific Grove)

QUICK TAKE: Saw him during the season playing CF and showing off his above-average athleticism in the middle of the OF tracking down balls in the swirling Pacific Grove winds. That athleticism translates to the mound where he has been the de-facto ace for the Breakers after showing those skills all Summer and Fall. Hanes will have the chance to carry this team through the bracket with his two-way skills.

2020 3B Roberto Nunez (Monte Vista Christian)

QUICK TAKE: Nunez has moved back to his more natural position of 3B and continued to be an impact bat for the Mustangs. Offensively he’s patient with some bat speed looking to drive the ball gap to gap and flash some power.  On defense he shows good natural rhythm and lots of arm strength to play on the left side. The Mustangs will need him at his best to make a run this postseason..

2020 SS Bryce Gundersen (Scotts Valley)

QUICK TAKE: Gundersen has seen his offensive production continue to grow as the season has progressed being a key offensive cog in the middle of the Falcon’s lineup. At SS he shows quick feet with enough arm to stick in the middle of the diamond. As his power has grown he has the chance to change the outcome of the game with a swing of the bat.

2020 OF Jon Berring (Palma)

QUICK TAKE: The ultra-athletic Berring hits atop the Palma lineup while playing lockdown defense in CF. Speed is his game and he’s got plenty of it being able to put pressure on defenses and take bags once on-base. In CF he helps the pitching staff by being able to track down balls that would be hit. If he’s on base, the Palma lineup has a chance to beat anyone.
