Fresno Preseason ID: Blast Motion Leaders

PBR California

New Episode LIVE now! At The Yard Podcast

FRESNO, CALIF. - Our Preseason ID series kicked off last weekend in Fresno, at DIB Baseball Academy. We have four more stops coming up over the next four Sundays (Far North, Peninsula, South Bay, East Bay) and look forward to seeing players we know of and those we will be introduced to. There are sure to be players in attendance in the coming events who will be receiving invitations to some of our most exclusive event opportunities such as Future Games.

At the Fresno Preseason ID event players went through the traditional showcase (with slight modifications as a result of moving the event indoors due to weather) workout that included the 30-yard dash (w/10-yard split as well), hitting session, defensive session, concluded with pitchers throwing a 15-20 pitch pen session. This piece highlights the leaders in Blast Motion data.

In the coming days we’ll push out other statistical leaders, categorical leaders, scouting reports, and much more.

(Note: All showcase videos have been added to player profiles)

ON-PLANE EFFICIENCY

Measures the percentage of your swing where the bat is on the swing plane. Your vertical bat angle at contact establishes the plane for that swing. Plane is a great indicator for making more consistent contact on the barrel of the bat. For more info: On Plane Efficiency

AVERAGE ROTATIONAL ACCELERATION

Measures how quickly your bat accelerates into the swing plane. Rotation is a good indicator of how you build bat speed by sequencing properly. The quicker your rotational acceleration, the more power you will have and the more time you have to adjust to pitch locations. For more info: Rotational Acceleration
