San Jose, CA - I was able to sit on the Valley Christian Warriors for three games over three days 2/21-23/19 as they matched up with the Carroll Dragons (South Lake, TX) for two on Thursday 2/21/19 before playing Orange Lutheran on Saturday 2/23/19. The Warriors went 1-2 over those three games and showed a very talented roster with a lot of D1 Committed players in the lineup. Below is a recap of those games before breaking down a group of players who stood out.

Games Recap:

The Warriors looked excited to come out and play against Carroll but were quickly smacked in the mouth with Carroll scoring six runs on seven hits showing that the Dragons weren’t intimidated by the #7 team in the Power 25. VC was able to regroup, scoring two in their half of the first and having bases loaded chances each of the next three innings, failing to capitalize. The Warriors scored four more in the 6th to cut the game to 10-6 before getting another one in the 7th ending the game with the tying run at the plate and taking their first loss, 10-7.

In Game 2, the offense started early for the Warriors on a bases-clearing 2B by RHP Jon Cymrot before leaving him stranded at 2nd base and taking a 3-0 lead. Carroll battled back scoring one in the 3rd and two in the 4th to tie the game 3-3. VC had another big chance in the 4th with the bases loaded but again couldn’t find the big hit. Carroll scored two in the 6th taking the lead 5-3, but the Warriors weren’t going quietly as they got their two leadoff men on to start the 7th scoring with 1B Jon Cymrot coming up clutch again and driving in the tying run after a passed ball. The Warriors walked it off in the 8th with a huge 2-out double by OF Coleman Brigman over the LF head to score the run from 1st and make it a 1-1 day for the Warriors.

On Saturday against Orange Lutheran, the Warriors started off behind giving up two in the 1st on three hits, but limiting the damage and leaving two on base. The offense got on the board tying the game 2-2 in the 2nd inning, but again left runs off the board ending the inning with the bases loaded. At that point, 2020 RHP Max Rajcic settled in and the Warriors only scored once more in the 6th to tie the game 3-3. In the 7th, Orange Lutheran got two guys on and the Warriors looked like they might get out of it when RHP Steven Zobac got a big strikeout for the 2nd out, but couldn’t get the final out as Orange Lutheran had an infield single help them take the lead before a 2B into the RCF gap made it 5-3 sending the Warriors to 1-2 on the weekend.
