NORTHERN CALIFORNIA - Last week the focus was to see some 2024 grads who are participating and performing on varsity teams, in anticipation of the upcoming 2024 rankings, which will be our initial ranking for the class.

Thursday April 29th had me at the St. Ignatius Prep v Sacred Hearth Cathedral in Daly City/San Francisco. Both schools are in the West Coast Athletic League, one of the top leagues in not only Northern California, but all of California. During this abbreviated season the northern schools (St. Ignatius, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Archbishop Riordan, Serra) in that conference are not playing the southern schools (St. Francis, Bellarmine, Valley Christian, Archbishop Mitty) in the WCAL.

SI is running out a young team this season, which bodes well for their prospects in 2022 and beyond, including 2024s SS Evann SmithOF Malcom Felix, and RHP Makai Susor (did not pitch), and 2023s C/P Joshua PashbyRHP Jackson Short3B Luca Dickinson, and 1B Nico Gomozias. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral, their junior class is strong, particularly on the offensive side, including SS/3B Lucas Kelly (Arizona commit), 1B Colin Spear (Nevada commit), CF Ivan Herrera3B JC Agard, and OF Aidan Taclas.

On Friday April 30th I stayed local and took the short trip to Windsor to see Montgomery HS, with a focus on their 2024 3B Sam Valenti, as they took on a 7-1 Windsor HS team and their 2021 RHP Gary Hall (San Jose State commit). It was a good chance to see a young player tested by a senior with good stuff.

Here are the reports/notes and video from those games, both of which went to extra innings. Bonus baseball x2!

Make sure to go into the players' profiles for additional notes, stats, and metrics, and any other video we have on them.
