NORTHERN CALIFORNIA - While scouting good high school teams and known players (draft prospects, future draft prospects, etc) all spring, most of whom are already committed. However, there are dozens of talented juniors (2023) who are still working hard toward fullfilling their goal of having an opportunity to play college baseball and for most, at the D1 level.

The order is simply from me going through my rosters, one at a time, then going over them again to make sure I didn't miss a player:

Name Pos High School B/T Notes
Josh Volmerding LHP Maria Carrillo   Long/lanky, stuff up to 87, feel for CB, works quick while dictating tempo, relentlessly attacks, one of top uncmtd LHP in N CA (update, committed to Cal Poly)
Cade Hannula INF California R/R On a talented team that got to NCS-D1 semis, his at-bats and process stood out above many committed players I've seen; he's got bat feel
Jaylen Hodges MIF McClatchy R/R 'Hidden' in 9-hole when I saw him, in a 2-0 win in the SJS-D1 semis, his slashing stroke earned him two knocks in a game w/very few hits
Kai Smith OF De La Salle R/R Toolsy/talented, bat stood out large in multiple viewings, gap to gap w/line drive power, plus runner as well, has CF tools, high motor kid
Landen Rota RHP/IF Cardinal Newman R/R Saw him get numerous big hits and also get on the mound and flash a FB into the upper 80s, versatile w/ability to play multiple positions
Josh Martin 1B San Marin L/L Fairly physical body, looks the part over at 1B, hitterish presence at the plate, pullside power is there, the ball comes off the bat with life
Luke Schat RHP Ukiah   Not the biggest body or biggest stuff but has feel for the craft, able to land the CB in the zone at will and control to both sides of plate w/FB
Danny Scudero CF Archbishop Mitty R/R Compact athletic body w/life in his actions, plus runner, able to cut down swing in 2K and get to his best tool, strong CF skills as well
Kyle Scritzky LHP Archbishop Mitty   Long lanky body, lower slot, loose arm, stuff and deception and slot all create a unique look that absolutely has a place on a college staff
Luis Lice SS Alameda L/R Lean lively body, lead-off hitter on very good HS team, playmaking ability in the field w/a slashing contact oriented stroke, has a motor
Daniel Paul OF/LHP Bella Vist L/L Presently to be considered a 2-way talent, bat appears to have more ceiling than pitching, quality ABs vs prospect Braeden Sloan
Michael Bohm RHP Miramonte   Stuff wasn't BIG but there is potential for more, displayed pitchability with both FB and breaking ball that flashed depth, has CHG as well
Miles Lu RHP Leigh   As w/the other pitchability/feel pitchers listed, he's got the ability to work through a line-up w/a full repertoire, the stuff can grow
Michael Baker SS Liberty (Brentwood) R/R In a game his team didn't put too much barrel to ball vs a D1 bound RHP, he was on time w/a line drive stroke in middle of field
Andy Gates SS Novato R/R Energetic player w/clear passion to play, good athlete, has feel for the bat, raw tools won't wow but has 'ballplayerness' that plays
Jake Fields P/3B Oak Ridge R/R Strong body that draws the eyes, big arm at 3B, plays D w/feel and clean actions, not SEEN on mound but my sources say GOOD (update, committed to LBSU)
Kaden Wilde C Rodriguez R/R All the intangibles w/athleticism that plays & projects as abv avg defensive catcher, RBI type hitter, some pop w/bat control (update, committed to Cedarville University)
Nathan Schikore RHP Rodriguez   Long 6-3 190, strike thower, stuff up to 85-86 when saw him, ability to use and locate both CB and CHG, methodical attacker (update, committed to Willamette University)
Jarren Ford   Will C. Wood R/R Thumper at the 1B position, has both impact power and feel for hitting, avg and power will play, process is high level, solid 1B D
Mason Sayre SS Will C. Wood R/R Still approaching physical maturity but feel for game both on D and at the plate shows up clearly, just needs strength to blossom
Cameron Taylor 3B Napa R/R Strongest 3B arm I saw all spring, bat plays, BIG motor, confident and plays w/an edge, chance to be impact player in college
Kaiden Dossa SS/3B Tamalpais R/R One of most consistently good strokes of players I saw multiple times, plays a clean SS, strong arm, runs well enough, skilled (update, committed to Yale)
Tyler Buxton P/3B Tamalpais R/R Long & lean, arm shows better across diamond than raw velo on mound but that will come, good feel for SL & CHG, it's in there
Cody Cooper RHP Woodcreek   Body is good, arm works, fastball in mid-80s w/promise for more, it's the CB that has a chance to be a separator for him, will rise
Ethan Louie OF Woodcreek R/R Strong compact body, solid athlete, one of top hitters on one of state's top HS teams, keeps it simple, has barrel feel, ball jumps
Wyatt Abramson 3B/P Casa Grande R/R Two-way ability, playmaker at 3B w/smooth and calm actions, accurate arm w/carry, all field LD hitter, strike-thower w/SL feel
