NorCal Player of the Week: 4/19-4/24

The season is well underway now in all the Northern California CIF sections and as such, we have begun accepting nominations for the weekly player of the week in the region. We present the winner for our first 2021 NorCal Player of the Week.

2021 Catcher Ryan Stafford of Folsom HS had a big week as the Folsom Bulldogs (7-5-1, 2-2 in Sierra Foothill League) had three league games against Whitney HS of Rocklin, taking two of the three games. Stafford is a Cal Poly Mustang signee and participated in the 2020 ProCase event. His performances in the three games was indicitive of what we've seen from him on numerous occasions, impacting the game both offensively and defensively. During the three games he went 6-for-11 at the plate, good for a .545 average, while playing every inning at catcher. His game calling was instrumental to the success of the pitchers and he didn't allow a successful stolen base attempt as he cut down a couple of runners. For the season he's hitting .523 in 52 plate appearances, with 8 doubles, one triple, one home run, 9 stolen bases and 11 RBI, hitting out of the lead-off spot.

For his outstanding performances last week, we congratulate Ryan Stafford of Folsom HS for being named the Prep Baseball Report Northern California Player of the Week for the week of April 19th - April 24th. We salute his accomplishments and wish he and his teammates continued success this spring.

Simply send weekly details/stats into our staff by Monday and look for our Diamond Notes article that will highlight top performers who weren't selected for Player of the Week but are deserving of recognition.

The more information you give us, the better... name, position, grad year, B/T, height/weight, college commitment (if applicable), along with the weekly stats. Please also include anything notable, such as the caliber of competition the player faced, the game circumstances that were affected, etc.
