ISLANDERS FIELD - LATHROP, CALIF. - A total of 37 position players were in attendance, seven of whom competed primarily as catchers, all uncommitted.The event was all 2022/2023 grads, with a number of ranked players in attendance. 

In addition to the traditional showcase (60 yard run, BP round, defensive workouts), the pitchers competed in live game action where their data was gathered, and each position player had four at-bats during the game they played in.

LISTED IN ORDER OF THROWING MPH DURING THE CATCHER WORKOUT

Aidan Sakai, Hillsdale (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: C/3B Ranked #179 in California, #26 among catchers.
Body: 6-2, 180-pounds. Physical body, well-proportioned, powerful build.
Hit: RHH. Tall in box, medium width feet, slightly open with small stride, remains tall throughout. Physical swing, whips barrel with ease, has ability to impact contact with his physical strength, fast hands, works middle of field with ability to drive the ball with power to all fields.
Power:  98 mph max exit velocity, 72.4 max bat speed with 23.8 max hand speed.
Arm: RH. C - 81 mph. Strong arm, quick release, throws around the bag, some tailing action on throws, best throws had carry through the target.
Defense: 1.95-2.02 pop times. Quick feet, small actions to get off the pops to 2nd base, strong base below him as a receiver, soft/strong at ball reception.
Run: 7.21 runner in the 60.

Noah Canter, Elk Grove (CA), 2022
Positional Profile: C/OF Ranked #136 in California, #15 among catchers.
Body: 5-9, 185-pounds. Thick, stout and muscular.
Hit: RHH. Starts with very wide base, reverses lead foot into smaller negative stride, throws barrel with ease, hands work fluidly, still able to drive back hip through even though back foot lacks rotation. Flat swing more often than not, ability to drive the ball to all fields, maintains balance, explosive at and through contact.
Power:  98 mph max exit velocity, 86 max bat speed (exceptional) with 22.7 hand speed.
Arm: RH. C - 78 mph. Has a strong arm, throws hold their line though frequently were just short of bag in the workout, in-game and between inning throws consistently good and on the bag.
Defense: 1.94-2.04 pop times. Leader type presence, strong receiver with athletic ability and agility to block and control, has ability to be a threat to an opponent's running game.
Run: 7.05 runner in the 60.

Matteo Bellisimo, Tamalpais (CA), 2022
Positional Profile: C/1B Ranked #61 in California, #3 among 1st basemen.
Body: 6-3, 205-pounds. Long and broad frame with ample room for significantly more strength and size gains.
Hit: RHH. Imposingly big in the box, tall set up with narrow feet, deep in the box, quiet hands as he slides/glides into the stride. Physical swing with violent bat speed yet also has ability to control the barrel, gap to gap and potentially line to line home run power, showed ability to hit all pitches and has adjustability to multiple zones, is a mistake punisher as well.
Power: 103 mph max exit velocity, 82.4 max bat speed (exceptional), 22.5 max hand speed.
Arm: RH. C - 77 mph. Ball exists hand well though mechanics can clean up, elbow leads arm action at separation in the exchange, slightly lower slot  leads to some sink and tail.
Defense: 2.13-2.25 pop times. Big target, has strong hands and ability to block with range, lacks some polish behind the plate, is a very capable 1st baseman with ability to also play corner OF spots with arm strength that profiles in those positions.
Run: 7.46 runner in the 60.

Daniel Lopes, San Benito (CA), 2022
Positional Profile: C/SS Ranked #260 in California, #27 among catchers.
Body: 5-10, 165-pounds. Lean with athletic proportions.
Hit: RHH. A bit off the plate deep in the box, starts open, high knee lift with big pinch of lead knee to back leg, hands resting comfortably in lower slot. Aggressive stride, loose hands with lots of handsy rhythm created, throws barrel through contact, athletic swing with ability to drove ball gap to gap.
Power:  91 mph max exit velocity, 68.5 max bat speed, 20.4 max hand speed.
Arm: RH. C - 76 mph. Athletic thrower, gets carry on pop throws with quick release and consistently around the bag.
Defense: 2.04-2.08 pop times. Quick feet, highly athletic actions, caught 11 innings and didn't lose a bit of energy or effectiveness all the way through, receives well, energetic and athletic ball blocker.
Run: 7.55 runner in the 60.

Joshua Pashby, St. Ignatius Prep (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: C Ranked #102 in California, #14 among catchers. Is also a recruitable talent on the mound.
Body: 5-11, 175-pounds. Lean strength, athletically proportioned with some muscularity.
Hit: RHH. Starts open, deep in the box, fairly tall set-up, flares back elbow up a bit in the load, quiet stride, maintains balance. At times steep on the way to contact, has ability to stay above the ball with top hand though could employ that mechanic more often. Has hit tools though a contact oriented approach was inconsistent.
Power:  88 mph max exit velocity, 67.2 max bat speed, 19.4 max hand speed.
Arm: RH. C - 76 mph. Quick arm stroke, accurate thrower with ability to put it in good position for MIF to make a tag.
Defense: 1.97-1.98 pop times. Consistently outstanding throwing mechanics, agile blocker, outstanding receiver with ability to work below the ball.
Run: 7.21 runner in the 60.

Luke Shane, Branson (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 5-10, 165-pounds. Compact body type with stout proportions and strength.
Hit: RHH. Balanced set-up, medium width feet, medium depth in box and off the plate, small knee lift to in-line stride, very small hand load to medium depth. Displayed solid barrel control, swing that he can control with strength to make impact contact, works to drive hips powerfully through contact.
Power:  90 mph max exit velocity, 68.9 max bat speed, 20 max hand speed.
Arm: RH. C - 76 mph. Clean arm action, consistently accurate, raw arm strength is a positive, throws stayed on-line to bag, takes his time in the exchange which allowed him to throw very accurately.
Defense: 2.15-2.22 pop times. Not in a hurry to get ball underway on pop, can speed up a little bit to shave some time but accuracy was impressive, leader presence, blocks very well, strong receiver as well, skilled in nuances of the position.
Run: 7.99 runner in the 60.

Drew Dillehay, Los Gatos (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-10, 170-pounds. Lean athletic body type, well-portioned, still approaching full physicality.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, medium feet, traditional set-up, small heel lift out to medium stride, medium depth load allows for some separation from front side. Handsy swing, particularly strong belt high on inner half in BP, some length on way to contact with a bit early top hand involvement, had competitive game ABs with a knock to RF on a pitch on outer half.
Power:  92 mph max exit velocity, 69 max bat speed, 22.8 max hand speed.
Arm: RH. C - 73 mph. Short quick arm stroke, clean exchange, may have gained a little ground in his set-up allowing for lowest pop time but was also consistently accurate, raw arm strength is average with mechanics that allow the arm to play up.
Defense: 1.97-2.12 pop times. Efficient feet with clean mechanics in the transfer, presents big target with glove, has energy and relationship ability with his pitchers, blocks well and puts in the effort.
Run: 7.42 runner in the 60.
