REDWOOD CITY, CALIF. - As an open event, this was conducted as a straight traditional showcase, 60 yard run, BP round (with Blast Motion sensors and TrackMan utilized for gathering of various data and metrics), defensive workouts, and pitchers ending the day on the mound throwing 15-20 pitch sessions.

Jacob Downing, Serra (San Mateo, CA), 2024

: 5-10, 150-pounds; Lean, athletic build. 7.24 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH. Open setup, with feet shoulder width apart; upright bat position. Loads straight back with a gliding stride for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a slight lift to the ball with a finish around the back. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 95 MPH via Trackman. Heavy sweet spot% (77.8) and when staying in the middle and oppo gap there was a lot of barrel contact, lively swing with some sneaky power potential.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while displaying fluid actions to the baseball. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. SS - 81 MPH. Keeps ball off his body, trusts glove hand, arm action has some length, displays arm strength that projects well for the SS position, playmaker up the middle.

Zachary Thom, Palo Alto (CA), 2024

: 5-9, 150-pounds; Athletic, wiry build. 7.33 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet wide spread; flat bat moving to upright position. Extended take back of the hands with a toe-tap for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a flat swing path with a finish around the back. More ground balls than line drives and fly balls with a peak exit velocity of 87 MPH via Trackman. Easy swing, contact oriented approach, solid base, stays within self and understands an approach that fits given his present size and strength.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep step while utilizing a quick first step. Hands are out in front with a seamless transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. SS - 79 MPH. Sets up with sound footwork mechanics to create clean angles to the ball, soft hand, smooth from glove to hand to get ball under way quickly.

Michael Perazzo, Serra (San Mateo, CA), 2024

: 5-8, 145-pounds; Average, average build. 7.55 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; flat bat moving to upright position. Short take back with the hands with a moderate leg kick for timing. Drifts into contact while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a flat swing path with a finish around the back. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 84 MPH via Trackman. Smooth stroke, lots of sweet spot contact (87.5%), has feel for serving the ball around the field, contact oriented stroke.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are underneath the body while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high-3/4 arm slot. SS - 76 MPH. Light feet, flows to ball well, creates outstanding angles to get off accurate throws in INF; OF - 76 MPH. Gets directly in-line to his target, quick release, utilizes one hop throws, calm and efficient, easy arm.

Dominic Camarillo, St. Ignatius College Prep (CA), 2024

: 5-6, 138-pounds; Athletic, sturdy build. 6.98 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with a moderate leg kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a flat swing path with one-handed finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 88 MPH via Trackman. Somewhat of a hitterish look, hands fire from preset position, rocks weight back over backside in the leg lift, whippy through contact, able to work all fields.
Defensively: Starts with a compact setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Long arm swing from a low-3/4 arm slot. SS - 73 MPH. Focused approach, light feet, sets up low and plays low through the ball, wide base, range is good, lower slot and longish arm stroke take away some carry on throws; OF - 79 MPH. Quick release, crow hops into the throw, full finish, maintains body control to and through the ball, fields cleanly off left leg.

Nate Turkington, Bellarmine College Prep (CA), 2024

: 6-0, 165-pounds; Broad shouldered, rangy build. 7.77 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet wide spread; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Loads straight back with a toe-tap for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with two handed finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 88 MPH via Trackman. Heavy line drive % (62.5) and sweet spot % (75), high level ability to stay on-plane, easy stroke, stays balanced throughout, stays within self and in control of the barrel.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while displaying fluid actions to the baseball. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. SS - 71 MPH. Keeps ball off his body, sets up with angles to get off on target throws, plays smooth and easy with calm confidence, sound footwork and confidence in the glove.

Caleb Cazares, Clovis North (CA), 2023

Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with a moderate leg kick for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a compact swing path with two handed finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 90 MPH via Trackman. Quiet load, fires nearly from preset position, gets to balanced contact out front, sees ball well, good barrel control and consistency.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are soft while funneling to the hip before transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. SS - 71 MPH. Sets up to get throws off quickly, clean mechanics with fair range, sets up with angles to get off in-line throws though can develop more carry.

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet wide spread; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a direct swing path with a high finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 72 MPH via Trackman. Equal LD and GB % (42.9), short finish, puts 'nose on ball' with focused approach, stays on-plane, contact-oriented approach.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are out in front with a seamless transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. SS - 68 MPH. Plays low at the ball and through the ball, can throw on move from different angles, clean from glove to hand, some length in the arm stroke.
