New Episode LIVE now! At The Yard Podcast

COVID ended the 2020 season early throughout the State but as things progress quickly for the 2021 high school season, it’s time for us to preview teams from around the State in the Yearly Preseason Preview. Schedules are being adapted to fit the ever-changing landscape and though this season may look different than history has shown us, coaches/staff, players, families, and our team are preparing for 2021 to be as successful as possible.

We’ve submitted the Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state and their responses have been flooding in. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be using their detailed insight on our team-by-team previews ahead of the 2021 season leading into the California Power 25 Rankings.

SEASON OUTLOOK:

Coach Trujillo should be excited about the Menlo-Atherton Bears this season as this roster returns 7 starters from 2020 and 5 pitchers. This is going to be a deep team with a lineup that will attack pitchers from 1 through 9. The depth will also show up at all positions where players are competing with each other to get on the field and show their progress after a shortened 2020 season. That shortened season may be one of the only weak spots for the Bears and if they get into sync quickly, Coach Trujillo sees this team being atop the Ocean Division and competing for a CCS Championship. Besides overall depth, the pitching staff is going to be tough to beat with frontline arms leading this team on a weekly basis. Playing a more regional schedule is going to challenge this group of players in a great way and Coach Trujillo sees the culture and team chemistry coming together at the perfect time for Menlo-Atherton to make a run in 2021.
