Rising Stars ID Sacramento: Quick Hits

New Episode LIVE now! At The Yard Podcast

LINCOLN, CA - The Rising Stars ID: Sacramento event this past Sunday was our last Rising Stars ID event of the spring. Now we look forward to the next step for some of the standout players, the Rising Stars Games in SoCal and NorCal... and ultimately, for some, a place on the Team California roster at Jr. Future Games.

This July, PBR California will be taking a team to the Jr. Future Games for the first time. This unique event is run in conjunction with, and at the same facility as, the Future Games which last year hosted over 360 college coaches. Adding to the spectacle is the uniqueness of the event being open to uncommitted players only.

The Rising Stars ID series serves as the springboard for players looking to be a part of the best event in the country for uncommitted players, and the Sacramento event had numerous players who are now firmly on the radar and will receive an invitation to not only the NorCal Rising Stars Game on 6/6/23, but perhaps for Jr. Future Games.

Players were put through the traditional showcase workout that included the 60-yard dash, BP, and a defensive workout using Trackman, Swift Technologies, and more to measure every movement.

In the coming days and weeks we will continue to roll out content, but in this post we’ll break down some early standouts from the Rising Stars ID: Bay Area. The schools listed are where the players intend to attend high school, per their registration for the event.

Be sure to follow PBR California on Twitter and Instagram for videos/notes throughout the weeks of the high school season. Players are listed alphabetically.

STANDOUTS

'28 3B/P Chase Cotton, Whitney HS

  • To consider the future of this young man is quite exciting. Keeping it simple, looking at raw numbers, limiting hyperbole, his fastball peaked at 83 mph, his INF velocity was 84 mph, and he posted a max EV of 84 mph. He's 5-foot-10, 170-lbs and the ceiling is sky high.

‘27 OF Andy Fisher, Rocklin HS

  • His running time was the lowest at the event and he will get faster as he physically matures. The swing had life, with a max EV of 82 and he repeatedly employed the swing he wanted to get off, with a 22.1 degree average launch angle and 63% sweet spot %.

‘27 RHP/3B Ethan Gustus, Roseville HS

  • Long lanky body at 6-foot-3 148-lbs, lean strength is present. Max EV of 85 mph shows a glimpse of his future ability to impact the baseball, 79 mph across diamond. On mound, max FB 78 w/sink, cut change, big front hip type slider. Very intriguing on the mound.

'27 3B/P Aiden Lepisi, Valley Christian HS

  • Strong, compact 5-foot-7 165-lb body. Loud BP round with a lot of hard line drive contact (86 mph max EV). Repeated his swing confidently and consistently, hitterish comes to mind as a term. Strong arm tracked across diamond at 79 mph, FB topped at 78 mph.

‘27 LHP Colton Silva, Twelve Bridges HS

  • Fun to watch, has delivery and feel, with a presence that is well beyond his precocious age. Lanky 5-foot-11 150-lbs with body control and sound mechanics. The raw stuff isn't eye-popping yet (76 mph max FB) and a BIG steep CB w/continuous tumble through zone.
