San Juan Capistrano, CALIF.  Jake Adams is a player that has shown that he can do a little bit of everything. He is a very well rounded ball player and plays with an energy that is contagious. All of his actions are compact and very explosive. At 5-10 180 pounds, Adams shows to have plus strength for his class and is sure to only get stronger once joining a college program. He is a kid that you want in your locker room due to the sparkplug that he provides behind the plate. He is an impact player on both sides of the ball and showed the ability to work well with pitchers that he had never seen before.

Body: 5-10, 180 pounds. Adams has a great catchers build. Has a physical presence, but is still very quick with his actions behind the dish. He has room to build off of present strength. Can still tend to look raw behind the plate due to his physical ability, but with some cleaning up could have the potential to be a plus defender at the next level.

Hit: He stands upright and slightly open with some slight bend in his back knee. He lands softly on his front toe and is short and direct to the baseball (78% on plane efficiency). Lands on a firm front side. Has a right center approach and does a good job of letting the ball travel.

Power: Adam’s has the powerful lower half of a typical catcher, and showed the potential to be able to drive the ball with authority. His exit velocity got tracked up to 92 mph during his practice and was doing it to all parts of the field. Rotational acceleration max of 17.3gs shows potential.

Field: Advanced tools behind the plate with room to grow. Good lateral movement while blocking with soft hands. Clean and fast transfers, gains good ground towards second on throwdowns.

Arm: RH C - Short and quick arm action. With a pop time ranges of 1.97-2.09, he showed great consistency with his throw downs and was able to put his throws right in the tag zone.

Run: 7.2 60-yard dash on laser time. Keeps his head and chest down. Arm swings have minimal movement. Strong legs with solid strides provide his speed.

Summary: Entering his final season, Adam’s is looking to come out and catch the eyes of college scouts. He is a ballplayer that is always trying to be the hardest worker on the field and having a player like that behind the plate is essential to being able to handle a staff. The strength and quickness that he possesses as a catcher is not easily found, and is sure to be an asset to any team in need of catcher depth. His work ethic and passion for playing truly stands out on the field, and he is primed for a breakout season his senior year.
