LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The PBR California 2025 Class Rankings have been updated after a baseball packed summer season that saw many of the top players in the state continue to maintain their status in their class while many others continue their climb toward the top of the class rankings. The 2025 class continued to impress throughout the summer while many new faces jumped into the rankings after big summers themselves.
Today we take a deeper dive into the top 3 players in the State, a couple of the top uncommitted players remaining on the board, as well as take a look at who's seen their stock take a rise after the summer.

Billy Carlson SS / Corona , CA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
After seeing plenty of time last spring for Corona HS, Carlson exploded on the national scene this summer at the Future Games where he was electric in everything he did. Whether pitching (touches 91) or playing shortstop (next level abilities now), Carlson shone on the brightest stages against the best competition around the country. The bat-to-ball skills are advanced presently with a frame that has plenty of room to add mass as he continues through his high school career.

Brady Ebel 3B / Etiwanda, CA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
Few, if any, 2025 players had the type of spring that made Ebel the only freshman to earn PBR California All-State Team honors in 2022. Ebel continued his hot spring season in the summer showing easy power with the ability to hit the ball to all fields. Smooth, easy and fluid swing where he gets some separation from the body and shows the ability to get the barrel out front consistently and on plane. Flashes a heavy barrel with big power potential. At 6-foot-185 pounds, Ebel has a present durable frame that will only continue to add strength. |

Trey Morris LHP / Washington Union, CA / 2025Coming off what can be described as a dominant freshman varsity season on the mound (75.2 IP, W-L 6-1, 0.83 ERA, 36 H, 11 BB, 117 K) and a competitive season at the plate (6 2B, 1 HR, 19 RBI), Morris is poised to emerge as one of the state’s best all around players as a sophomore. He earned a spot on the Athletics underclass team at Area Codes after carving hitters in his mound appearance with a 85-87 mph FB (has reached 88), BIG CB at 67-71 mph, and 78-79 mph CHG. Morris has feel for all three pitches, works quickly and has outstanding mound presence. At 6-foot-1, 200-pounds he’s also a presence at the plate, with plus bat speed and real power (98.3 mph EV in a preseason event). It is hard to envision a BETTER season than he had in 2022 but the pitching will be outstanding again and the hitting will be one year more mature. |

TOP UNCOMMITTED PLAYERS

Seth Hernandez RHP / Rancho Cucamonga, CA / 2025Hernandez had a breakout summer that saw him compete and, at times, dominate quality competition culminating in a lights out performance at the Area Code Games last month. Working 91-92 mph at over 2400 RPM from a clean and easy delivery that jumps out of the hand. Creates downhill angles on all pitches with the fastball showing life at the plate and the tight curveball (79-80 mph) has swing/miss potential. At 6-foot-3 180-pounds, Hernandez is uber projectable. |

Chase Bentley RHP / Granite Bay, CA / 2025Going into his freshman year, Bentley was already showing not only the raw stuff of a future D1 pitcher, but more impressive, he displayed advanced feel for his stuff. The body is broad and durable (6-foot-3, 215-pounds) and with that he also brings body control. The delivery is repeatable and allows him to manipulate the ball at release, which is evident with a steep CB and tilty SL, along with a diving CHG. The FB is mid-upper 80s and will keep on coming. It’s the stuff and feel for four pitches that separates Bentley from most of his peers at stage of their development. For good measure, he also swings that bat well with raw power that will certainly play at the HS level. |

Grayson Boles RHP / St Augustine, CA / 2025Boles was one of many bright spots for St. Augustine HS both at the plate and on the mound where his stuff was that of an upperclassmen as a freshman. Started and stayed hot this summer where his power at the plate was more prominent in the warmer months of the summer. Broke out at the Future Games where he touched 90 mph while living 87-88 mph in his two one-inning relief outings. Big time power projection at the plate from a 6-foot-4 190-pound frame. |

Parker Jennings RHP / Granite Bay, CA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 33 / POS: 5
A second RHP from Granite Bay HS high in the 2025 rankings, the ceiling for Jennings appears to be sky high. Each time we see him, the notes read something like this… “is going to throw REALLY hard someday.” Last look was in early August at Super Camp among top players in the 2024-2026 classes. Easy loose and quick arm, FB 83-86 mph with a big CB 69-72 mph. Has a CHG as well, 77-78 mph. There is little effort in the arm stroke and at a lanky and lean 6-foot-3, 165-pounds, this is what ‘projection right-handers’ looks like. Seems like Granite Bay HS will be a popular school to scout in spring 2023. |

Josh Hollis RHP / JSerra Catholic HS, CA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 36 / POS: 6
A big time summer that saw the rising sophomore commit to Oregon also sees Hollis climb his way into the top 40 in his class. Hollis features an easy, loose arm action with repeatable mechanics on a taller frame that has room to add plenty of mass. Works 85-86 and touches 88 mph with the fastball and a wipeout slider in the low 70’s. He also shows flashes of what could become an above average pitch in the future.

Dario Freschi SS / Vintage, CA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 74 / POS: 18
Manning shortstop all summer for a strong 16U team, the left-hand hitting Freschi also was a strong presence as the team’s leadoff hitter. Steady and heady in the field with playmaking ability, it’s clear why he was a varsity shortstop (earning All-League) as a freshman. As good as he is in the field, the bat is equally as strong. Has power to the pull-side, a tenacious approach and ability to get 2-strike knocks the other way, and hits both RH and LH pitching well. |

Cole Strane SS / JSerra, CA / 2025Rankings StateRank: 56 / POS: 13
Strane made an impression on our staff early in the summer at the prestigious PBR National Program Invitational where he showed very good bat-to-ball skills that resulted in frequent barrels. The hitting continued for Strane at the PBRT West Championships where he was a hitting machine. But Strane is not a one trick pony, he has the defensive chops that should allow him to stay at shortstop. He’s instinctive with quick feet/hands and enough arm strength to make throws with accuracy from all angles. |
