What We Saw: Week 13

In Northern California, Clayton Valley faced off against San Ramon. Clayton Valley had four straight hits to start the game taking a 3-0 lead early in the first.

Clayton Valley did not lay off as their unrelenting offense continued to churn hit after hit. The inning ended 7-0.

This game continued to be all Clayton Valley as ‘24 1B Jerry Coakley (Uncommitted) drove in two runs in the fourth to extend their lead.

‘23 RHP Amari Ford (Uncommitted) shut the door for Clayton Valley.

‘23 C Ryder Helfrick (Arkansas) doubled in another run to make it 10-0 in the last inning. The win secures Clayton Valley’s championship appearance vs. De La Salle.

The D1 final between Franklin and Whitney was a huge matchup of some of the best teams in Northern California.

‘24 2B Jax Gimenez (Uncommitted) started a rally with a single and was knocked in by ‘24 SS Luke Oyler (Saint Mary’s) giving Whitney a 2-0 lead.

‘24 RHP Nic Abraham (Uncommitted) maintained composure and got out of it with two strikeouts in the third.

In the bottom of the third, Franklin tied the game with RBIs from ‘26 OF Dylan Minnatee (Uncommitted) and ‘23 MIF Derek Pham (Uncommitted)

Abraham was cruising on the mound and in the bottom of the fourth, ‘23 1B/LHP Nolan Stevens (Mississippi State) knocked a double to give Franklin a 5-2 lead.

Nic Abraham stayed in for a great complete-game performance to win Franklin the SJS D1 Championship.

In the NCS D2 championship, Casa Grande put up seven runs in one inning to secure a 7-2 lead against Maria Carrillo.

Casa Grande held on and won 9-2 to win the championship.

In San Diego, Eastlake beat Rancho Bernardo twice to advance to the open division final against La Costa Canyon.

‘24 3B Noah Betanco (Uncommitted) helped push them over the edge with a double.

‘23 MIF Daniel Mora (Uncommitted) also did his part to contribute with a pair of hits.
