LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the California Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Player of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from California.
Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes which will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Player of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
2025 OF/1B Josiah Hartshorn of Orange Lutheran HS has been named the California Hitter of the Week for Week Five of the high school baseball season.
Hartshorn led the Lancers to the championship of the Bishop Gorman Tournament with a huge offensive week that culminated in him setting the new school record with 12 home runs after clubbing two homers in one game and finishing the week with four total round trippers.
For the week Hartshorn hit .667 with the aforementioned four home runs and two doubles. He finished with eight RBI and eight runs scored helping the Lancers continue their win streak that currently sits at seven games.
For the season Hartshorn is hitting .500 with three doubles, five home runs, and 12 RBI as the Lancers climbed up the Power 25 rankings to the No. 3 position.
We salute senior Josiah Hartshorn on earning the Prep Baseball California Player of the Week.
