LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the California Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Player of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes which will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Player of the Week.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

2025 RHP Cullen Hirtensteiner of Heritage Christian has been named the California Pitcher of the Week for Week Three of the high school baseball season. Hirtensteiner was virtually unhittable in a 1-0 shutout victory over Channel Islands. The uncommitted righty struck out 15 batters while allowing only three hits in the complete game shutout. Hirtensteiner didn’t allow a hit until the third inning and didn’t have an inning where he surrendered multiple hits in the game, he also had at least one strikeout in every inning and three innings where he struck out the side.

For the season, Hirtensteiner is 2-0 with 34 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched allowing just four hits and two runs over three starts. 

We salute senior Cullen Hirtensteiner, on earning the Prep Baseball California Pitcher of the Week.
