Each week, the Prep Baseball California staff asks High School coaches from around the state to fill out our Player and Pitcher of the Week questionnaire. We select the awards with the input of these coaches, performances we witnessed and word of mouth. With all of the talent throughout Northern and Southern California, it can be difficult to just pinpoint one pitcher and positional player from NorCal and SoCal each week so our 'Diamond Notes' articles will serve the purpose of highlighting the top performances that were submitted by coaches.

DIAMOND NOTES

+Tyler Bereton, 3B/RHP (Arcadia, 2027)

Tyler Bereton hit a two-run home run in the top of the 8th inning vs. Ganesha High School to help them win 3-1 this past Friday. Went 3-6 with a 2B, HR, four RBI’s, and 2 walks.

+Damian Catano, LHP (Arcadia, 2026)

The crafty lefty Catano went a full six innings, nine strikeouts, two hits. Pounded the zone full of strikes and had lots of swing and miss.

+JT Lewis, RHP/OF (Ocean View, 2025)

JT Lewis had a game vs Arlington Heights after hurling six innings in a shutout, had seven strikeouts in the second game of the Dallas tournament. Also had one triple, five RBI’s and scored five runs.

+Evan Garrison, 1B (Bishop O'Dowd, 2025)

Evan Garrison manned down first base for the Bishop O'Dowd infield, last week his bat was hot while going four for nine, with four RBI’s along with a double and a triple.

+ John Teti, C (Bishop O'Dowd, 2025)

John Teti who plays Catcher for Bishop O’Dowd, the senior went four for nine at the plate with two RBI’s, four runs, two RBI’s also hitting a double and a triple.

+Aiden Mcnaughton, OF (El Dorado, 2025)

Aiden Mcnaughton from El Dorado High School didn’t seem to get out much at the plate, he went seven for eight, with two runs scored, and one RBI.

+Corden Pettey, RHP (Whitney, 2025)

Corden Pettey is off to an impressive start of the ‘25 high school season. Pettey’s line was four and one-third of an inning, giving up only one hit, two runs (one earned), and striking out nine.

+Peyton Miscione, 2B/SS (Clovis West, 2026)

Peyton Miscione is the leadoff hitter for Clovis West, against Righetti this past Friday he went four for four, with two doubles, two runs, and two RBI’s. Then on Saturday against Arroyo Grande hit a homerun. Miscione went five for eight on the entire week.

+Ethan Lamb, RHP (Oak Ridge, 2025)

Ethan Lamb of Oak Ridge High School was dominant in his start. Lamb threw five innings, one hit, zero runs, zero walks, and got the win for the Trojans.

+Devin Debuono, C/RHP (Calvary Baptist, 2027)

Devin Debuono went three for three in his second game of the week and managed to steal 9 bases, two walks, scored five runs, and five RBI’s. On the mound Debuono went one and one third innings. Then went on to score the game winning run in a 17-16 comeback win against Cal Lutheran.

+Angus Buchannan, RHP (Irvington, 2025)

Angus Buchanan threw a complete game shutout against SRV, throwing seven innings, one hit, striking out five and giving up zero runs.

+Xavier Montalvo, 3B/INF (Kerman, 2026)

Montalvo ignited the four run inning that ended up leading the Lions to a comeback against the defending D-1 Section Champs and the D-2 Regional Champs.

JT Sanchez, RHP, 1B (Kingsburg, 2028)

The freshman Sanchez was very impressive after going on the mound and throwing five strikeouts through five innings, only giving up one hit.

+Vince Menard 1B, (Corona Del Mar, 2025)

Vince Menard of Corona Del Mar led his team to 2-0 this week, he hit a massive home run over a win against Segerstrom going three for three vs Dana Hills. Went five for six on the week, with one HR, three RBI’s, and a run scored.
