LINCOLN, CALIF. - The Sacramento Preseason ID took place at McBean Park in Lincoln. With over 15 players in attendance, our staff had an opportunity to see many new faces all vying for an invitation to the 7th Annual California State Games later in July.

Amongst the group of 2025-2028 players in attendance, there was a large number of players being first-time participants in a showcase under our umbrella.

Players were put through a Pro-Style workout beginning with official measurements for their height, weight and grip strength. From there they were run through athletic testing on the VALD platform with laser timed 10,30, and 60 yard run times. All position players underwent a defensive workout/evaluation (OF/Corner INF/Middle INF/1B/Catcher) to showcase their defensive actions with video and arm strength recorded. Players also completed testing on Vizual Edge which offers a comprehensive assessment that analyzes an athlete's core visual skills, including alignment, depth perception, convergence, and more. This baseline evaluation helps identify strengths and weaknesses to tailor training programs.

The workout concluded with on-field batting practice with Trackman Technologies and Blast Motion providing data feedback on the player's offensive tools with video. All pitchers who took the mound were also on Trackman Technologies to gather data on their pitches from velocity, spin rates, movement patterns and more.

In this edition of Quick Hits we’ll take a look at some early standouts from the Sacramento Preseason ID. We've already released the Statistical Analysis from the event, and we will contiune to release data leaderboards, full scouting reports, a Top-10 prospect list, and much more.

QUICK HITS

OF/RHP Brooks Porter (Robert McQueen, NV, 2026)
Mr. Porter made the trip from the state of NV to attend this event. I had never seen Porter before but the first thing I noticed was how physical he was when he walked into the ballpark. During the 60's he ran the second fastest at 6.77 with a top run speed of 20 MPH, the athleticism is definitely there. In the OF he had an event best with a top velocity of 87 MPH, showing his ability to move all around the field. Porter put on a display during BP, with a max hand speed of 23.2 MPH, 80.4 MPH max bat speed, max EV of 95.7 MPH, and a max distance of 355 FT. Transitioning to the mound, he continued to make a statement with a four-pitch mix, topping out at 88 MPH while sitting between 83.6-86.5 MPH. The SL plays a bit better than the CB, with a max spin rate on the SL of 2126 RPM. The CH will be a quality pitch in the back pocket for him to have. Intriguing ‘26 who is also a football player. I hope to see Porter again in the future because he's got a lot of untapped talent.

MIF Reggie Bell (Stevenson-Pebble Beach, 2026)
Bell is from Stevenson School-Pebble Beach Campus, and had a teammate named Phinn Thomas who attended our PSAS not too long ago. Bell has a chance to stick up the middle at the next level, he's a very solid player. Bell weighed in at 5-foot-10 161-pounds and had his grip strength on his right hand at 141.9 and 126.7 with his left hand. His VALD numbers were pretty impressive, as he ran a 7.09 60-yard dash, with a top speed of 18.7 MPH, the second highest vertical jump at 27.2 inches, which really showed his athleticism. Smooth infielder with good actions, improvement of arm strength will allow him to stay at SS, INF velo was at 79 MPH. Bell continued to show his hitting ability during the hitting portion of the workout displaying a max batted distance of 356 feet. He had a max EV of 93.2 MPH and an avg EV of 87.6 MPH. Vizual Edge Score was a 68.8. Excited to follow this Uncommitted ‘26 MIF from the North Bay.

C Ben Bradley (West Park, 2028)
‘28 Bradley is back to playing ball and he is at full strength, very refreshing to see the young stud of a catcher hold his own against a good group of talented upperclassmen. Switch hitting catchers always seem to catch the eyes of the Prep Baseball staff. Very impressive with a 80.4 MPH bat speed, peak hand speed of 26.7 MPH, avg EV of 87.8 MPH. Found barrels from both sides of the plate, hard contact working line to line. Another stat that stood out was his on plane efficiency which was at 95 with 31.3 of max rotational acceleration. The 60-yard dash will improve over time, still managing to produce a 17.2 MPH max run speed. Bradley showed an above-average skill set behind the plate, an event best C velocity of 78 MPH and had pop times between a 2.16-2.34. You’ll be hearing about this name in the NorCal area in the next couple of years.

OF Jaylen Dawson (Inderkum, 2025)
Dawson has a chance to make a college team very good in the OF and I think he can be a leadoff type hitter just from his bat to ball skills, and not to mention his event best 6.69 60-yard dash. Dawson's max run speed was 20.6 MPH and a 1.61 10yd dash split. He can straight up fly and it showed when he was doing his defensive part of the workout, along with low throws that were accurate to home plate. Dawson is still uncommitted but any school will be lucky to have him. In BP he had a max EV of 94 MPH and an avg EV of 89.6 MPH consistently hitting the ball hard (75% hard hit rate & a 75% sweet spot). If the arm gets stronger he will be able to stay in CF or RF, especially with his plus speed out there.

INF Mason Harris (Whitney, 2028)
Harris comes into the event as the #5 ranked SS in the state of CA for the ‘28 class. Another one of the younger players to attend this event, showing off why he is starting for the Whitney High School varsity baseball team. The first step is really good out of Harris, he has a good sense of internal clock, I think he needs to get fundamentally sound a bit more with his footwork as well. The release/transfer plays well and does a great job of following his throws. Harris had the second best INF velo of 81 MPH and will continue to get more arm strength. Max bat speed was 70.5 MPH with a max hand speed of 23 MPH, displaying lots of line drives to the middle of the field. Max EV of 91.3, avg EV of 86 MPH, 75% sweet spot. Goodluck to Harris on his first high school season this year.

INF/RHP Wyatt McElree (Redwood, 2027)
The two-way SS from Visalia opened some eyes in front of the Prep Baseball staff, McElree had an event best infield velocity of 82 MPH, with a quick transfer on ground balls. If he wants to be a SS at the next level he is going to need to improve his overall quickness and speed. The footwork is good and he uses the one hand very well when going to attack the baseball. Max EV on the day was 91.8 MPH with an avg of 81.1 MPH, his long frame will give him a shot to have a lot of power potential. Where McElree really caught my eye was when he hopped on the mound to throw, it was a very simple/effortless motion. The ball comes out of the hand hot and his mechanics are very clean. Max velo of the day was 87 MPH with an avg FB velocity of 84.4, avg spin rate of 2301 RPM. The CB is nasty, avg velo of 71.1 MPH sharp bite with avg spin rate of 2642 RPM. CH plays at 74 MPH and has an avg spin rate of 2291 RPM, tons of fade. Excited to see McElree have another huge year for Redwood High School.

OF James Romanov (Twelve Bridges, 2025)
Another good player from Twelve Bridges High School, Romanov stands at 5-foot-11, 176-pounds and tested 140.6 (RH) and 140.6 (LH) with his grip strength. Romanov had an event best Vizual Edge score of 82.46. Lots of athleticism in the tank as he ran a 7.12 60-yard dash with a top speed of 18.9 MPH. His vertical jump score of 27.3 was in the top-3 for the event as well. Romanov really stood out with his hand speed at the event, his max hand speed was 22.8 MPH, but his max bat speed was another event best at 88.9 MPH, avg bat speed of 82.0 MPH. Needless to say his hands are working super quick to the baseball with an approach to the middle of the field. Max EV of 96.2 MPH, avg EV of 88.6 MPH, max distance 356 FT, and a 58.3% hard hit rate. This was the first time I saw Romanov and I hope he finds a home for his next year of ball.
