SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - Prep Baseball California kicked of the Preseason All-State tour in San Diego at Maranatha Christian Schools. This event was jam-packed with talent from all around San Diego County, North County, and the greater SoCal region.
Players participated in a showcase-style workout, testing various different metrics for all aspects of their game. This included running a laser-timed 60-yard dash and maximum vertical jump and RSI tests with VALD. Fielding with INF, OF, and C throwing velocities and pop times was collected and BP swings were monitored by TrackMan and Black Motion knobs. Following the workout, a simulated
This article will dive into standout performers from both portions of the day, offering a glimpse into what's to come for rising and established names in San Diego. More news and the full stats page from the workout can be found here.
Standouts
'26 OF/1B AJ Curry - University City - Tennessee Commit
Curry made his homecoming to one of our events in California following an eventful 2024 in Kentucky. Playing at Ryle HS in Union, KY, Curry hit .552 with 10 XBH while nearly having a near 3:1 BB/K ratio in 79 PA. He followed his dominant spring with a near-perfect performance at the Prep Baseball Future Games, earning an invite to the Prep Baseball All-American Game. During the PSAS, Curry ran a top 5 60-yard dash at 6.837 seconds and threw an event top 90 mph from the OF. In BP, Curry showed his trademark left-handed stroke, hitting a max EV of 98.9 and sending one way out of the park at 381 feet. In the gameplay portion, Curry hopped on the mound and revved it up to 89 mph with a 4-pitch mix.
'26 SS Alex Harrington - Cathedral Catholic - Stanford Commit
Harrington is and has been one of the most prominent names in San Diego, if not the entire country, for years now. It's hard to poke holes in his profile; he moves very well on the basepaths and in the field with the arm to back it up. He can hit for power and average while having the instincts and competitive traits to thrive under any spotlight. Harrington stood out in both the workout and in-game. In BP he sprayed balls all over the field with hard line drives and HRs, his average EV was 94.7, with a peak of 100. In-game, Harrington worked competitive at-bats all day, walking away with a walk, a double, and a single with 94 EV into LF.

'25 SS Jett Kenady - Carlsbad - Cal Commit
Kenady has been a proven fixture in San Diego HS baseball for years now. He burst onto the scene in his sophomore year, hitting .327 with 7 HRs, and followed that by hitting .330 in 2024. The tools are undeniable, as a 3-sport athlete, Kenady moves very well in the field with tremendous coordination to make off-platform throws. He demonstrated that in the last inning of gameplay making a great play up the middle. In BP, Kenady had an average EV of 94.3 with a peak EV of 101.3. In the game, he hit a no-doubt bomb, dipping down with his body to grab a low breaking ball. The athleticism and coordination are backed by strength and the ability to hit for average and the long ball.

'25 SS Thomas Entrekin - Granite Hills - Cal Baptist Commit
Entrekin's prowess at the plate is what he may be known for, but what he did on the mound opened some eyes. The Granite Hills SS/3B is a career .307 hitter on varsity with 21 XBH in his two full seasons as a starter. In the game, he had multiple good at-bats, and although he didn't grab a hit, he rocketed a line drive to CF at 90 EV. He hopped on the mound and delivered an interesting look, 86-89 with a 77-79 breaking ball. This new look at Entrekin offers intrigue to what's to come for him this year at Granite Hills as a 2-way player.
'27 SS Carter Hadnot - Aquinas - Miami Commit
Hadnot made the trip down south to San Diego from Aquinas HS and showed off his full toolbox. He threw 83 mph across the infield from SS and showed off a capable swing from both sides of the plate with a top EV of 94.4. In game, Hadnot worked strong at-bats, and while he didn't collect a hit he shot a line drive to the base of the wall in CF at 93 mph.

'26 SS/OF Jayden Parker - University City - Uncommitted
Parker made a statement at the Preseason All-State. A physically imposing frame at 6'2, 191.1 lbs, Parker has the size, strength, and athleticism you want in a shortstop. He started off the day with an event-topping 6.8 60-yard dash and followed with 86 mph across the infield. In BP, Parker launched balls all over the yard with a max distance of 362 ft. and a max EV of 93.3. In his first at-bat, Parker made his presence known immediately, falling to 0-2, he stayed on plane with a high 80s FB at the top of the zone and smacked it for a no-doubt HR well over the wall in left. He followed that with a 90 mph EV ground ball that snuck under the glove of the third baseman. The duo of Parker and Curry at University City is one to watch as both are set up for big seasons.

'26 RHP/OF Tyson Bobo - Patrick Henry - Uncommitted
In the 2024 season, I wasn't able to see much of Bobo due to a transfer sit-out period for the first half of the season and limited time in the lineup and on the mound. The small glimpses were enough to make me a believer, Bobo's swings were high leverage and looked the part while the defense was lights out. Following Bobo in the summer, the pitching looked the part, with velocity reaching into the low 90s and a quality breaking ball. Bobo backed up everything I saw in the spring on Saturday. He showed off the arm talent with multiple throws reaching 88 mph from the outfield. At the plate in BP, Bobo had the second highest bat speed of the event at 83.6 mph and had a max EV of 100.6 and an average of 90.4. In his first at-bat, Bobo turned around on a high 80s FB to smoke a double into the LCF gap with 97 EV. He then hopped on the mound and dominated, setting down four straight batters while striking out two. He mixed a FB from 88-90 with a wipe out slider at 74-77 that was located for strikes and got multiple swings when placed in the LH batters box.

'26 RHP/SS Taden Krogsgaard - Temecula Valley - Uncommitted
Krogsgaard made the trip out to LakePoint for the 2024 Prep Baseball Future Games and showed an intriguing two-way profile. He showed well in the workout with a top EV of 97.6 and threw 86 across the infield. In game, Krogsgaard shined bright on the mound. He arguably faced one of the best slate of hitters of the day and struck out three batters with a true three pitch of a FB from 86.5-91.5 mph and 2400+ spin, a controlled slider at 75.3-77.9 averaging 2581 rpms, and a splitter/changeup at 79-81. He mixed effectively and kept hitters off-balance and always guessing. The spots were located on the edges and just outside the zone, not allowing hitters to get off good swings.

'25 OF Trevor Smith - Granite Hills - Uncommitted
Smith brings a lot of desirable qualities to the field. As a two-sport athlete, more specifically a defensive back for back-to-back-to-back CIF champions Granite Hills, Smith has advanced ball tracking and routes in the outfield. He's also a switch hitter, capable of performing from both sides of the plate. Above all, he plays the game with grit and hustle. In the workout, Smith threw 86 mph from the outfield while running a 7.06 60-yard dash. His BP consisted of line drives to all fields, collecting a max EV of 92.7. In game, Smith blasted a homerun to dead center field showcasing some power. He was and will be a big contributor for a strong Granite Hills team this spring.

'25 OF Druw Frost - Pt. Loma - Uncommitted
Frost has been a consistent performer every time I see him. He led Pt. Loma in average this past season, and showed tremendously at our State Games, grabbing two triples and several other hits. The swing is a simple no-stride stroke from the left side with efficient flexibility and weight transfer in the bottom half to generate momentum. The swing screams simplicity and repeatability. In BP, Frost was smoking line drives all over the yard with a max EV of 96.3 and a consistent average of 94.4. In game, Frost logged a 95 EV single as well as a 95 EV double into the RCF gap and an infield single. He showcased his run tool with stolen bases as well. All indicators point to a strong spring for the uncommitted outfielder.

'25 INF Branden Keeling - Pt. Loma - Uncommitted
Frost's Pt. Loma counterpart was another big part of the offense in 2024. Keeling was second on the team in average, hitting .305 with two HRs and 3 doubles. In BP he topped the event with a max EV of 101.5. He carried that into the game with a massive home run over the batters eye in dead CF. The swing registered a 97 EV.

'27 SS/RHP Joseph Flores Jr. - Arlington - Uncommitted
Flores Jr. attended the 2023 Prep Baseball Future Games and since then, has shown consistent growth on every viewing. He has added significant size to the frame as well as arm strength. In BP, he had a max EV of 95.8 with an average on 89.4. He hopped on the mound and topped 89.3 mph with a slider and changeup at 77-78 mph. He worked a very clean 5-batter slate, striking out 3 and inducing two groundballs. His 2-way profile is one to watch for this coming season.
