Ventura, Calif. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series takes a dive back into the 2025 class as this class is inching closer to their final seasons of High School baseball there are still several talented uncommitted players in this class who our staff has had the opportunity to see compete. Our player today is featured within our Class of 2025 rankings and is one of the top uncommitted players left in the state for that class.

We invite you to get to know the players featured here through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and Swift Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put our focus on the Southern California scene for a look at the number 109 ranked player for 2025 in '25 INF/RHP Tomas Bilvado from San Marino High School. Bilvado had a loud JR. campaign for the San Marino program including being named to the Rio Hondo League 1st team, winning Pitcher of the Year for the league and bringing home the SGV All-Star Game MVP award. For the year Bilvado posted 5 doubles, drove in 12 runs and scored 11 runs. But, his pitching stats were quite electric going 10-2 over 16 appearances with 11 starts, 3 complete games, a 1.47 ERA while throwing 76 innings with 74 Ks allowing just 37 hits for a .145 OBA on the year. As well, Bilvado was a standout at a trio of Prep Baseball California events including the OC Summer ID, CA State Games and for Team California at the West Coast Games in the 2024 calendar year.

Bilvado is an athletic mover on the mound who features easy arm speed (he also doubles as the starting quarterback at San Marino) and an intriguing arsenal of pitches. His FB sits in the 86-87 MPH range while peaking at 88.2 MPH on Trackman while averaging between 16-18" of IVB across multiple events and spin rates in the 2100-2200 range. Bilvado features a pair of impressive breaking balls in his 70-71 MPH CB which he can generate over 2800 RPMs of spin on, but that is the secondary breaking ball to his 73-76 MPH SLD that averages in the 2500-2700 RPMs on spin rates and will also peak above 2800 RPMs of spin at the top end. Finally, Bilvado rounds out his arsenal with feel for a present 77-80 MPH CHG which is firm thrown more as a soft contact offering, but tunnels on a similar movement pattern to his FB. A good athlete who repeats his delivery well and generally lives within the strike zone flashing some present command of his arsenal Bilvado profiles as a starter profile option at the next level.

As intriguing as Bilvado is on the mound there is also plenty to like about his as a position player option or 2-way potential player for the next level. Defensively, his present athleticism is solid and includes a 7.04 60 time that includes 1.86 10 yard and 4.11 30 yard splits with a top speed of 19.4 MPH with sound actions to his footwork, angles and glove give him an up the middle defensive profile on the INF dirt with 3B looking like his best home.

The RH hitter has a wiry athletic build at 5'10 and 162.3 lbs and during BP has showcased a quality swing with some intriguing metrics. Bilvado shows bat speed around 67.2-72.1 MPH on average and has peaked at 74.8 MPH which suits his gap to gap approach with some impact potential to the pull side. As well, he shows quickness to his hands and the ability to use them in the swing averaging between 20.5 to 23.4 MPH of hand speed and peaking at 24.4 MPH with his his hand speeds. His turn is solid with present ability to build up to his top bat speed with a peak of 14.5 Gs of max rotational acceleration while averaging 10.4 and 11.7 Gs during his 3 events. The foundation of a compact swing with present bat speed played into the quality of his batted ball data during batting practice where he displayed a sound present approach with feel for hard contact. Bilvado has peaked at 96.7 MPH on his exit velocity with averages between 82.1 and 84.1 MPH during batting practice. As well, he demonstrated consistency getting the baseball in the air with a 60% to 76.8% Fly ball/Line drive rate, hard contact quality with a peak of 60% hard hit rate and 83% sweet spot rate.

Bilvado figures again to be a prominent piece of the San Marino High pitching rotation and within their lineup for his SR. campaign where he will look to build upon his solid JR. campaign facing off against top level competition both in Southern California. With a starters potential on the mound, solid athleticism, upside in his bat and a solid INF defensive profile that all combine to make Bilvado a name to keep eyes on for college programs still looking for potential impactful players within the 2025 class.
