Ventura, Calif. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series returns as we stare straight ahead towards the 2025 CIF High School baseball rapidly approach for the '25 class as they look to close their high school careers with a bang. With than in mind Prep Baseball California is highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '25 athletes for college programs to be following come this spring. The player featured today is one of the top players in the state of California and figures prominently in our Class of 2025 Rankings

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the #140 ranked player in the 2025 class in SoCal '25 OF Jackson Pratt from St. Francis High School in La Canada. Pratt was a key role player with the Knights in 2024 playing in 17 games including a strong showing at the CIF-SS D4 Championship game scoring 9 runs on the season and figures to see an increase in his role this spring after putting together a strong summer/fall including a trio of very good looks for our Prep Baseball California staff at the: Ventura County Summer ID, Orange County Uncommitted Game and finally the Inland Empire Preseason All State.

Pratt was mentioned as a top performer at both the Ventura County Summer ID and Orange County Uncommitted Game and was a top statistical performer at the Inland Empire Preseason All State. He checks in at 5'11 181.7 lbs. with athleticism to it and shows room to add more strength in the future. A high quality athlete he has posted a top 6.76 second 60 time with a 1.67 10 yard burst, 3.80 30 yard split and top end speed of 20.2 MPH. His defensive actions and athleticism profile him to have a chance to play CF presently and long term while showing the arm strength to handle RF with a 89 MPH OF velocity and could be a weapon in LF.

In addition to a quality OF defensive profile, Pratt has shown a top of the order offensive potential. His LH swing displays strong metrics on Blast Motion including reaching a max of 69.8 MPH of bat speed and averages around 66 MPH with present quickness in his hand path posting a peak of 20.7 MPH hand speed and averages around 19 MPH of hand speed during his batting practice swings. The torque he generates in his swing is a strong trait as he peaks at 28 Gs of rotational acceleration and averages between 20-24 Gs throughout his batting practice session. The explosiveness to his swing helped to generate high quality Trackman batted ball data during batting practices from a flatter swing path that plays to line drive contact through the middle/opposite side of the field, but has the leverage to elevate the ball to the pullside with carry. Pratt has maxed out at 330' which whill profile mainly to doubles power with sneaky impact when he catches the ball out front in the air to the pullside. His top end exit velocity reaches between 90-93 MPH across his event attendance while averaging between 82-87 MPH during his on field batting practice rounds. With his combined speed/athleticism, middle of the field line drive approach and emerging offensive approach that has shown well in game play for our staff Pratt provides an interesting offensive profile from the LH side.

With a profile on the rise over the later part of 2024 and into the start of 2025 Pratt brings a strong toolset across the board with potential to play a premium defensive spot and impact the top end of a lineup at his ceiling while adding a solid floor. For college programs still needing LH bats, athletes or versatile OF defenders Pratt is a name they should be keeping eyes on for the 2025 CIF High School baseball season.
