Ventura, Calif. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we forge ahead in the 2024-2025 school year and the looming JR. High School baseball season for our '26 class. With than in mind Prep Baseball California is highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '26 athletes. The player featured today is one of the top players in the state of California and figures prominently in our Class of 2026 Rankings. All players featured within our Uncommitted Spotlight series are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and Swift Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on the number 131 ranked player in the 2026 class in SoCal '26 C/OF Isaiah Lopez from Bellflower High School. Lopez is a compact framed but athletically built prospect at 5'9 158 lbs. with some present strength and room to add as he matures. He showed a solid athletic foundation at the Future Games Tryout: Orange County including a 7.29 60 time while flashing his potential both behind the plate and in the OF. His glove is soft with strong wrists and a good feel to receive while adding 79 MPH present C arm velocity with carry and 2.0 personal best pop time during the workout. His tools are solid in the OF with feel for routes, footwork, instincts and shows solid present arm strength at 85 MPH.
With a profile that looks to be able to stay at a premium position defensively or handle an OF corner should he need to move the RH hitting profile for Lopez strengthens his potential.With an explosive swing that has present lift in the path. His Blast metrics are impressive including an average of 71.4 MPH on bat speed while maxing at 74.3 MPH and quickness to his with 20.7 MPH average hand speed with a peak of 25.2 MPH showing torque in his turn with 15.5 Gs of rotational acceleration. His solid swing data mixed with his feel for an approach/timing produced good batted ball data during batting practice with a 89.5 MPH max EV and a 81.3 MPH avg EV plus a 85.7% Fly ball rate with 14% Line Drive rate Lopez consistently gets the baseball in the air with quality contact.
Lopez is preparing for his JR. campaign at Bellflower where he will look to be a part of the program buidling on a successful 2024 CIF-SS High School season. With his rising offensive profile, defensive versatility and athletic ability Lopez is a solid uncommitted '26 for college programs to keep tabs on.

Isaiah Lopez, Bellflower (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: C/OF Lopez made the move to the OF after previously catching at our events. The arm plays well and his bat has improved since last viewing.
Body: 5-9, 158.7-pounds. Athletic frame with developed strength.
Hit: RHH. Upright with weight on his back foot. Rhythm with a whippy load and high leg kick. Hips fire slightly early with some reaching across the plate. Hit most balls the other way.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 81.3 mph. 328' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-85 mph. Online throws that are one hops or on the fly.
Defense: Moves through the ball well and possesses good range.
ATH: 7.29 runner in the 60. 1.90 and 4.16 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 24.50 max vertical.

Positional Profile: C/OF Lopez presents himself as a qualified catcher with the hitting tools coming along with it. A name to watch in the coming years.
Body: 5-8, 159-pounds. Strong legs, developed upper body, good proportions in his current frame.
Hit: RHH. Even feet, weight is loaded heavily onto a bent back leg. Hands are elevated above his shoulder. Big whippy load, uphill swing path. Tons of solid contact to all fields. 61.3 mph bat speed with 9 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 76.5 mph. 277' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-79 mph. Gets the ball out fast. Throws from the ear, all throws on the mark, either 1 hop or all the way through.
Defense: 2.00-2.26 pop times. Gets himself moving towards second base and elevated into a throwing position really well. All momentum moves towards target.
ATH: 7.31 runner in the 60. 1.80 and 4.06 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-9/145lbs. Smaller/lean build. Still maturing. Some present athleticism, standout RSI - 3.49. 10yd - 1.83, 60yd - 7.69, VERT - 24.5.
Defense: 2.09-2.30. Showed athleticism getting out the crouch. Quick feet that set quickly and gain ground. Smooth exchange. Higher crouch when receiving. Sinks body into a 1-knee done set up. Trouble framing low pitch.
Arm: RH. C - 74. Shorter AA. Above avg. strength for level. Quick to release. Uphill shoulders. 4/5 accurate throwdowns. Consistently on the 2B side of second base.
Hit: RHH. Athletic stance. Leg kick trigger that leads to some drift at times but controls it well. Rhythmic/loose hands. Easy swing. Barrel works direct. 1-hand high finish. More LDs than GBs/FBs during BP round. Above avg. hand speed via blast. Whole fields approach during round. Current LD gap power (87 mph max EV).
