With than in mind Prep Baseball California is highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '26 athletes. The player featured today is one of the top players in the state of California and figures prominently in our Class of 2026 Rankings. All players featured within our Uncommitted Spotlight series are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and Swift Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the number 145 ranked player in the 2026 class in SoCal '26 INF/RHP Alvaro Moreno Jr. from Ganesha High School. Moreno made two appearances on the Prep Baseball California events platform in 2024 including: 2024 SoCal Preseason All State Underclass and Future Games Tryout: OC, as well was a part of the Prep Baseball California Spring Invitational Tournament with his previous high school Etiwanda. Across each of his appearances Moreno Jr. has displayed an intriguing package of tools in a strong frame. This past spring he saw time on the varsity level for Etiwanda getting consistent playing time as a position player showing flashes of his potential with a .288/.382/.348 slash line with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 11 RBIs and 9 runs scored. In addition, Moreno Jr. took the mound 7 times with 5 starts posting a 2-2 record with a 3.87 ERA over a total of 25.1 innings pitched with a nearly 2/1 K to BB ratio.

Alvaro presents a strong build at present standing 6'3 199 lbs. that has some present strength to it while still showing room to add more as he continues to mature. A solid athlete he posted a 7.35 second 60 time at the 2024 Future Games Tryout: Orange County with short distance burst including a 1.65 10 yard split with a 4.04 30 yard split while reaching a top speed of 18.6 MPH. His defensive actions and present arm ability give him potential to stick on the INF dirt at 3B, but he will need to continue to maintain his athleticism to stay there long term as he matures, but shows plenty of potential to slot into 1B if a move is needed.

In addition to a quality INF defensive profile, Moreno flashes the potential to be a corner power RH hitter who has produced flashes of the impact in his bat for the Prep Baseball California staff. The RH hitter has consistently displayed strength in his swing on Blast Motion by reaching a max of 73.1 MPH of bat speed while adding in quick hands with a peak of 21.7 MPH hand speed. The torque he generates in his swing is a solid trait as he peaks at 14.6 Gs of rotational acceleration. On Trackman batted ball data at Prep Baseball California events Moreno Jr. has produced a peak of 93.9 and averaged 88.2 MPH on his exit velocity during 2024 Future Games Tryout: Orange County batting practice. His present strength with torque combined with a lift based swing path that produced a 100% Fly ball/Line drive rates with a 38% hard hit rate and 100% sweet spot rate. There is still some rawness to his approach/timing that can be developed and improved to help him reach his power potential as a impact RH hitter.

As well, as being a strong RH hitting profile college recruit the righthander adds a prototype pitchers frame with an interesting present pitch mix. Moreno Jr. has shown a sound delivery with clean arm action out of his profile on the mound. His arsenal is fronted by a present 83-85 MPH FB which peaked at 86 MPH during the Future Games Tryout: OC while averaging over 2200 RPMs of spin and 17" of IVB on average to give it potential to miss bats up in the zone. His primary secondary showcased at events has been his shorter breaking SLD in the 75-77 MPH range with an average horizontal break at around 4". Moreno has flashed a solid CHG in live looks and during warm-ups, but it is a present 3rd offering that requires furher development for righthander.

Coming off a year in which Moreno Jr. gained valuable experience competing against high level High School baseball on the SoCal scene with continued time to improve his overall game the RH hitter and RH pitcher that is headed over to a strong Ganesha program Moreno Jr. is a name to keep eyes on this coming spring/summer out of the SoCal region.
