VENTURA, CALIF. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series returns as we officially have begun the 2025 CIF High School baseball for the 2025 spring. With than in mind Prep Baseball California will continue highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '26 athletes for college programs to be following throught the spring schedule and into the summer. The player featured today is one of the top players in the state of California and figures prominently in our Class of 2026 Rankings

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the #74 ranked player in the 2026 class in SoCal '26 OF/2B Brady Strachan from Rancho Bernardo High School in the San Diego Section.  The RH hitting versatile defender was a key piece on a Rancho Bernardo squad in 2024 that made plenty of noise both in the San Diego Section and the Southern California region, as a whole.  Playing in 33 games and making 113 plate appearances with 99 official at bats the talented Strachan slashed .354/.407/.414 whle posting 4 doubles and 1 triple. He added 17 RBIs and 19 runs scored with 2 stolen bases. As well, his underlying 10 BB / 12 K ratio was an all around very strong showing for him as a Soph. while figuring to be a prominent piece of the 2025 lineup in the spring ahead.

Strachan really caught the eyes of Prep Baseball California San Diego based scout Matt Monk who raved about his feel to hit and athletic ability. Then he made his first trip to a Prep Baseball California event attending the 2025 Inland Empire Preseason ID Event. Standing 6'0 and checking in at 167.6 lbs. presently with solid athletic ability in his profile with a 7.02 60 time while posting 1.68 10-yard / 3.93 30-yard splits at his best with a 19.9 MPH max run speed. His athletic ability gives him solid 3 position versatility around the OF to go with solid present arm strength that has room to develop more as he continues to mature and get stronger posting a 83 MPH OF arm velocity. As well, you can see a potential fit for him on the INF dirt at 2B.

His strong Soph. season stats have been backed up by a good showing at the Inland Empire PSID event with his swing metrics and batted ball data both being very strong for a rising '26 grad. On Blast Motion the RH hitting Strachan posted bat speed up to 72 MPH while showing high quality hand speed at 22.6 MPH with a strong tight turn that generates up to 17.1 Gs of rotational acceleration. During his rounds of batting practice Brady showed impact in the profile with a solid feel for his barrel/hard contact by posting a top end exit velocity at 94.3 MPH while averaging 88.5 MPH with a personal best presently of 360' on his max distance and a 60% sweet spot rate. His swing path and approach showed well in getting the ball in the air with authority by posting a 67% Flyball/Line Drive rate during batting practice and a solid 47% hard hit rate. At present he profiles as a gap to gap doubles power profile, but shows enough strength/feel to elevate the ball that he can run a ball out to the pullside for a HR and there is projection to grow into more future power as his offensive profile develops.

With a stong offensive profile that has performed at a good rate on the varsity level early in his High School career. While also showing versatility to his defensive profile by carrying legitimate potential to play 3 OF spots, with a solid profile for CF, there is plenty to like about Strachan as a strong follow for college programs in their 2026 recruiting classes.

Strachan made the drive up the 15 freeway from San Diego and he proved the drive to be worthwhile. An athletic outfielder that covers lots of ground on the grass, Strachan opened with a 7.01 60 before the 6’ 167-pounder showed off his strong, accurate arm (83 OF velo) with throws that were on the bag at third while providing perfect long hops on throws to the catcher. At the plate, his 94mph exit velo was amongst the best of the session as was his hand speed at 22.6mph. He flashed a barrel filled batting practice driving balls to the pull side gap with ease with a 60% sweet spot percentage. Profiles as an extra base hitter with some future power potential.
