With the the first signing period passing, we reached out to committed players from the 2018 class to hear about their baseball career and to gain insight into their recruitment.  Continuing our look is No. 28 2018 RHP Ryan Windham

PBR: Why did you choose (The School) you committed to?
Windham:  I was invited to a Creighton Baseball camp and really enjoyed the campus and coaches.  Plus, TD Ameritrade is the best park in college baseball and is a pitcher-friendly park.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Windham:  I was considering the University of Northern Colorado and had also been talking a lot with Nevada.  The UNC coaches were really awesome but it was still early in the recruiting process.

PBR: Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?
Windham:  The Creighton Head Coach saw me at a local recruiting camp and invited me to their fall camp to get in front of their pitching coach.  They really liked my performance there and I started to have more contact with their coaching staff after that. The coaches were nice and easy to talk to.

PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?
Windham:  My freshman year I expect to be a relief pitcher and hopefully develop into a starting role.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Windham:  My dad has really pushed me to be the best baseball player I can be and has always been supportive and wanted me to be successful.

PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?
Windham:  I have really been working on my mechanics which have helped me with my fastball command and velocity increase.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have played against or with?
Windham:  This fall I played with Luke Leisenring and he caught for me a number of times.  He is a very good catcher, frames the ball well and really knows how to control the game from behind the plate.

PBR: What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for other players who have the desire to play college baseball.
Windham:  I would say you have to get yourself out there early and get people to know about you.  That could be a certain team or going to camps but you also need to keep in contact with coaches. Also, don't be afraid to fail.  Too many kids today are afraid of that which really affects their game.
