2023 CHSAA Season Preview: Las Animas HS

The Colorado high school season is nearing quickly, and we're here to cover it. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we'll publish our team previews ahead of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into a countdown through the official PBR Colorado Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

OUTLOOK:
The Las Animas Trojans have seven returning starters for the 2023 season and most of these guys have plenty of experience. One big standout from this roster is junior TJ Ortiz who hit .681 in 24 games last season, and he also struckout 114 batters in 73 IP. The Trojans have some really stout impact players around Ortiz as well to help carry the load. Coach Cody Hines is very optimistic about where the program is at right now, but he understands that their tougher schedule this year will force them to play quality baseball day in and day out.
