2025 CHSAA Team Preview: Mountain Vista HS

Caleb Dameron
Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

The Colorado high school baseball season kicks off on March 6th, opening day for regular season action under CHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Colorado Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

Mountain Vista had a challenging season in 2024, but even after losing a 5th round MLB draft pick in RHP Grant Shepardson, the Golden Eagles have re-loaded on some big time prospects. Coach Quintana could have around 5 pitchers who can throw 90+ mph, including uncommitted 2026 prospect Keaton Maiorana who just posted a fastball up to 95.5 mph at our Colorado Preseason All-State event. This high-end pitching staff will also be in great hands with Spike Magill this spring as the Mountain Vista senior catcher is one of the top defensive and receiving backstops we have seen within the state in recent years. The offense left much to be desired in 2024, but there are some young hitters like 2024 Super Sophomore Games alumni and 2023 Junior Future Games alumni Jackson Crawford (2027) and Cole Bobbin (2027) who could inject some life into this lineup. Arms like Chase Ruden, Sawyer Tipton, Alex King, Keaton Maiorana, Advait Jadhav, and Cole Bobbin could all give opposing teams fits this year, which makes the Golden Eagles a potential threat for a deep postseason run if their offense can produce as well. Mountain Vista has a loaded schedule this spring against some projected top teams like; Arvada West, Fossil Ridge, Regis Jesuit, Rock Canyon, Legend, Highlands Ranch, Castle View, Chaparral, Broomfield, and Legacy.
