Caleb Dameron
Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

The Colorado high school baseball season kicks off on March 6th, opening day for regular season action under CHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Colorado Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

This is a senior heavy squad for 2025 that made it to the 5A Final Four for the first time in the program's history last spring. The Thunderhawks move to a much easier league this season, but should be a contender for another deep run in the 5A state playoffs. The top of the pitching rotation is led by seniors Fabian Gaeta, Jerry Stone, and Romani Perez who each proved they can win games at the highest level in Colorado, while putting up some strong stats both on the mound and at the plate. In 2024, Stone hit for a .387 average with 7 doubles, 5 triples, 3 homeruns, 6 stolen bases, and a 1.129 OPS across 107 plate appearances. Stone also chucked 59.2 innings with 93 Ks, 24 walks, and a 1.88 ERA allowed. Lefty Fabian Gaeta posted 72.1 innings on the mound with 107 Ks, just 16 walks, 42 hits, and a 1.65 ERA allowed. We also saw Gaeta breakout with the bat in 2024 thanks to his .433 average, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homeruns, 6 stolen bases, and a 1.111 OPS across 112 plate appearances. Perez has flashed big power in the past and hit for a .388 avergae in 2024 with 27.1 innings on the mound with 34 Ks, and a 2.04 ERA allowed. Some of the top matchups for the Thunderhawks in 2025 are against Palisade, Fruita Monument, Riverdale Ridge, Brighton, and Chaparral.
