The Colorado high school baseball season kicks off on March 6th, opening day for regular season action under CHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Colorado Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

2025 SEASON OUTLOOK:

The Cougars are coming off of a 3A Final Four appearance and should have a great chance at another successful season in 2025. Coach Magaro returns most of his impact arms from last spring, but did lose three seniors from 2024 who each hit over .340. Air Force commit '25 Vaughn Green often carries this squad on the mound, and at the plate. Last season, Green pitched 48.2 innings with 70 strikeouts, 21 walks, and 43 hits allowed. Green also posted a .518 average at the plate with 3 triples, 5 doubles, and a 1.204 OPS across 94 plate appearances. A few other returners from this lineup who had success offensively last year were; MacAlmon (.362 BA), Ruby (.355), Barber (.347), and Wilson (.337). Alongside Green, we should see Budd, Riggs, and Fisbeck contribute on the mound once again this year as the three combined for 87 quality innings in 2024. The Cougars matchup with some of the top teams in 3A during the regular season as they play Colorado Academy, University, Eaton, and Forge Christian (also a matchup vs 4A Lutheran).
