5280 Showcase Quick Hits - Senior Arms

The 5280 Showcase took place on Sunday, November 7 at Rock Canyon High School and the event featured over 35 prospects from all high school classes, including ten unsigned seniors. It was a great turnout from Colorado’s 2024-2026’s. The event gave prospects one more opportunity to showcase their skills before our Colorado winter. The November weather did not disappoint and neither did our prospects.

Quick Hits - Senior Hitters

Today, our Quick Hits takes a look at unsigned senior pitchers from the 2022 class.

 

Andrew Gartrell RHP / OF / Chaparral , CO / 2022

Simple, repeatable delivery and high ¾ release. Quick arm arc with good use of front side levers. Fastball ranged from 81-82.8. Located 4 seam in zone. Curveball 61-64, changeup 68-71. Slightly slows arm on changeup. Lean body build with potential as strength improves. Also showed ability as hitter. Ran a 7.41... Quick twitch athlete.

 

 

Zac Chapman LHP / 1B / Rock Canyon, CO / 2022

Two-way potential. As LHH, shows slotted quick hand path. Slightly out front on swing. Uses gap to gap approach. As LHP, over the top delivery and release.  Long levers. Legs and arms create deceptive look.  Fastball, 80.4, curveball 69-73 in the zone. Good feel for changeup, 73-74. Potential.

 

Riley Warmbrod RHP / Windsor, CO / 2022

Rankings  StateRank: 111 / POS: 26

Broad shoulders, well built. Uses high leg-kick with swing in windup. Dip/drive delivery with high ¾ release. Creates good rotational push from rear side. Projectable growth in velo. Fastball 82.7. Have scouted Riley at higher velo. CB/SL 69-71 and plays well with arm slot. Strong senior follow.

 

 

Gunnar Pike LHP / 1B / Broomfield , CO / 2022

Unique... Gunnar showed the ability to throw from a “traditional” arm slot, but also was impressive as a side arm LHP. Long, lean levers with room for strength. Pitches mainly from stretch. High leg-kick and dip to drive delivery with high ¾ release. Fastball 78.5. Also utilizes sub delivery... Fastball 75, Slider 65 in the zone.  Can see good potential as situational lefty.

 

 

 

Top players from this event will have opportunities to be invited to future invite-only events such as the PBR Colorado Preseason All-State, the PBR Future Games and the Junior Future Games.
