5A District Roundup

The 5A Baseball Districts took place on Saturday with 8 of the 32 teams playing their way into the Final 8, which is set to begin on Friday May 19th.  Here is a look at district action from around the state on Saturday.

5A District Roundup:

District 1

Cherry Creek 9 Chatfield 2
The Bruins advanced to the championship game behind Tanner O’Tremba who went 2-2 with 2 runs and 2 RBI and Brennen Dorighi who was 2-2 with 1 run and 1 RBI.

ThunderRidge 6 Bear Creek 3
The Grizzlies advanced behind a quality outing from Quincy Ulrich who went 7 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 ER and struck out 9.  Tyson Cruickshank was 1-2 at the plate with 2 runs and 1 RBI.

Cherry Creek 3 ThunderRidge 0
The Bruins are on to the Final 8 and were led by Quentin Parr who went 7 innings allowing 3 hits, 0 runs and struck out 3.  Tanner O’Tremba provided the offense going 1-3 with 1 run, 1 RBI and 1 homerun. 

District 2

Legacy 3 Mullen 2
The lightning advanced in this game thanks to DJ Daugherty who went 1-2 with 1 run, 2 RBI and 1 homerun.

Brighton 5 Pine Creek 2
The Bulldogs move on with the win and were led by Liam Eddy who went 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBI.  He also added 6.2 innings on the mound allowing 3 hits, 2 runs and striking out 10.

Legacy 12 Brighton 5
The Lightning are into the Final 8 with the victory. 

District 3

Rocky Mountain 16 Lincoln 0
The Lobos found themselves moving on with the victory and were led by Jadon Uhrich who went 2-2 with 1 run, 2 RBI and 1 homerun.

Denver East 10 Douglas County 4

Rocky Mountain 10 Denver East 3
The Lobos will play in the final 8 and used 8 walks and 4 hits to put up 10 runs.  Rocky got 2 RBI performances from Tyler Mata-Lloyd, Jadon Uhrich and Trenton Medrano

District 4

Rock Canyon 8 Grandview 1
The Jags get the win to advance and were led by Wyatt Wendell who went 3-3 with 2 RBI.

Heritage 5 Grand Junction 1

The Eagles advanced to the district championship game with a strong performance from Jacob Hilton who threw a complete game collecting 14 K’s and Gunnar Kozlowitz provided the offense with a grand slam.

Rock Canyon 13 Heritage 6
The Jaguars return to the final 8 and were led in this game by Matt Givin who went 3-3 with 2 runs, 3 RBI and 1 homerun and Michael Keen who was 4-4 with 1 run and 3 RBI. 

District 5

Legend 10 Pomona 0
The Titans came out strong and advanced with the run rule victory being led by Kyle Cardona who went 3-4 with 2 runs, 4 RBI and 2 homeruns and Jordan Stubbings who was 2-3 with 2 runs, 3 RBI and 2 hoeruns.

Grand Junction Central 3 Fairview 1
this was a tight ball game until Hunter Kelchner hit a 2 run bomb for the Warriors to give them the lead and help them advance.  Kelchner also added 7 innings on the mound allowing 8 hits, 1 run and struck out 5.

The titans get their second 10 run victory of the day to advance to the final 8.  They were led by Joey Rembisz who went 2-2 with 2 runs, 3 RBI and 1 homerun, Jordan Stubbings who went 3-4 with 3 runs, 2 RBI and 1 homerun and Kian Manmano who was 2-4 with 1 run and 2 RBI. 

District 6

Regis Jesuit 4 Loveland 1
The Raiders advanced with the win and were led by Owen Best who was 2-3 with 3 RBI and 1 double on the day.

Broomfield 6 Arapahoe 4

Broomfield 14 Regis Jesuit 4
The Eagles came out of the gate strong with 10 in the first inning and rolled to a spot in the final 8 with the victory.  They were led by Mitchell Morales who was 2-3 with 2 runs, 4 RBI and 1 home run, Matt Turner who went 2-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI and 1 homerun and Tanner Garner who was 2-2 with 3 runs, 4 RBI and 1 homerun. 

District 7

Mountain Vista 2 Coronado 2

Ralston Valley 5 Fruita Monument 2
The Mustangs advanced with the victory and on the arm of Drake Davis who went 7 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 ER and struck out 4.

The Golden Eagles are back in the final 8 with a stand out complete game performance from Jack Liffrig

District 8

Dakota Ridge 5 Mountain Range 0
The Eagles advance with the win and were led by Carter Akerfelds who turned in a complete 7 inning performance scattering 5 hits and striking out 9. 

Highlands Ranch 17 Eagelcrest 7
The Falcons gave up 6 in the first but righted the ship and came storming back with 15 hits and 17 runs to advance.

Dakota Ridge 8 Highlands Ranch 3
The Eagles punched the last ticket into the final 8 with another strong pitching performance.  Ryan Stohr went 7 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 ER and collected 5 K’s.
