Here is a look at the action from around the state.

Vista Peak 2 Brighton 1

With both teams needing a win for a chance to make it to districts, Vista Peak was able to pull this one out on Tuesday.  Vista Peak went up early scoring a run in the bottom of the 1st, then added another in the bottom of the 4th, which turned out to be the winning run because Brighton added their only run in the top of the 6th.  Vista Peak had two brothers that pitched a great game, 2019 Joseph Wasick went 5 innings allowing 1 hit with 3 strikeouts, and then 2019 James Wasick 2 innings allowed 1 run but it was unearned, to go along with 2 strikeouts.

Windsor 7 Loveland 6

Loveland came out strong scoring 3 in the top of the first, but Windsor answered with 2 runs.  Loveland then took a 6 to 3 lead going into the bottom of the 5th inning, and that is when Windsor went off scoring 4 runs, and then went on to win 7 to 6.  Windsor was led by, 2019 Tanner Rogers who had a monster day at the plate, hitting 2 long balls, going 2 for 3 with 5 RBI’s, and 2019 Odessa JC commit Owen Lockner added another 2 RBI’s for the home team.

Legend 6 Smoky Hill 1

Legend gave up 1 run in the top of the first inning and then shutdown Smoky Hill after that.  Legend pitcher 2019 Brayton Vaughn did a great job going 5 innings allowing just 2 hits 1 run to go along with 3 strikeouts.  At the plate 2019 Jake Greiving went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.

Heritage 4 Douglas County 1

Heritage came out hot scoring 3 runs in the bottom of 1st inning and then added another run in the bottom of the 5th to beat Douglas County.  Heritage pitchers 2019 Arkansas Little-Rock commit Eric McKnight, 2019 Pete Chronowski, 2020 J. Hebenstreit, and 2019 Jake Schope combined for a 3 hit 1 earned run, and 8 strikeouts to lead their Eagles to the win.

Cherokee Trail 15 Mullen 5

Cherokee Trail ended their season a good note beating up on Mullen on Tuesday.  Mullen came out strong scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st and were leading the game 4 to 0 going into the bottom of the 3rd, but then Cherokee Trail’s bats came to life and they scored 8 in that inning, then added another 3 and 4 runs in the 4th and 5th inning.  The Cougars were led by 2020 Ryan Muniz who was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s, and 2019 Kellen Cox who was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  On the mound for the Cougars 2020 Ethan Sloan settled in after a rough 1st inning and went 5 innings allowing just 2 earned runs.

Rock Canyon 16 Highlands Ranch 6

Broomfield 10 Fort Collins 9

For two teams headed to the district playoffs on Saturday, it was apparent by the number of pitchers Fort Collins used (7) that this game did not matter a whole lot to them, and they still almost pulled it out at home but lost 10 to 9.  Broomfield was led by, 2020 Trenton Harris who was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s, and 2021 Justin Spencer who was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.  For Fort Collins, 2020 Hayden Iverson had a big day knocking in 3 RBI’s.

Boulder 11 Monarch 4

Boulder beat Monarch on Tuesday and it was a good tune up heading into the district playoffs on Saturday.  Monarch will join them in the tourney but did not fair to well on Tuesday.  Boulder was led by, pitcher 2020 Dorsey Chatham who went 5 innings allowing just 2 hits and had 8 K’s. At the plate for the Panthers 2019 Willamette University commit Jonny Suchor had a great day going 2 for 3, had 2 RBI’s and took 1 deep, also 2020 Noah Ghiselli was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.
