The Prep Baseball Report is the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in each state we cover through our variety of events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Here is a look at the action from around the state.

Grandview 17 Mullen 2
The Wolves stayed hot on Saturday beating up on Mullen.  Grandview was leading the game 6 to 0 going into the top of the 6th and then exploded and scored 11 runs.  2020 Isaac Smith, for the Wolves, was 3 for 5 with 4 RBI’s, 2019 Peter Goldy went yard and was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and 2019 Regis University commit  Amari Smith was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.  On the mound for the Wolves 2019 Josh Hojnowski went 6 innings allowing just 4 hits, 1 earned run and 1 strikeout.

Arapahoe 5 Eaglecrest 2
Arapahoe scored their 5 runs in the first 3 innings of play, and then gave up a 2 stop in the top of the 4th, but that was it for the Raptors on Saturday.  Arapahoe was led by, 2019 Turner Pruitt who was 2 for 3 scored 2 runs, and had 2 RBI’s.  On the mound for the Warriors, 2020 Spye Turnbeaugh went a complete game, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, and had 11 strikeouts.

Loveland 9 Broomfield 7
Loveland was leading the game 9 to 4 after 6 innings, but Broomfield got hot in the 7th and scored 3 runs which came up short in their game on Saturday.  Loveland hitters, 2020 Jake Ticer was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s, and 2019 Regis University commit Zach Harstad was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s to lead Loveland to a big win. Broomfield’s 2019 Dru deVera had a good game at the plate going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and 2020 Trenton Harris was 4 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. 

Cherokee Trail 3 Cherry Creek 1
In a much-needed win, the Cougars came out on Saturday and got one.  In the top of the 8th inning, Cherokee Trail put up a 2 spot to seal the deal for them.  The Cougars were led by pitchers, 2019 Kellen Cox who pitched 5 innings allowing 1 run, 2020 Seth Timmons threw 2 innings of scoreless baseball, and 2020 Sam Hayen closed it out with 2 K’s.  At the plate for the Cougars, 2020 Cade Simpson came up big going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.

Mountain Range 4 Rocky Mountain 3
Mountain Range took at 2 to 0 lead after scoring 2 in the bottom of the 2nd. Then Rocky got hot scoring 1 in the 5th, 6th, and 7th inning, but then Mountain Range scored 2 in the bottom of the 7th with a walk off jack by Angelo Domenico who was 1 for 4 with the winning 2 RBI’s.  Mountain Range relief pitcher 2020 Tristan Wolf went 5 innings allowing just 1 run, to go along with 8 strikeouts.  For Rocky Mountain pitcher 2019 Fort Hays State commit Jake Campbell allowed 2 earned runs to go along with 5 strikeouts.

Fort Collins 8 Fairview 1
Fort Collins came out hot scoring 3 runs in both the 2nd and 3rd inning and cruised to their league win on Saturday.  Fairview was led by, 2020 University of Virginia commit Colby Shade who was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, and 2019 Doane College commit Kellan Voggesser who was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s, but the 1 hit was a long ball.  Pitching for Fort Collins was 2020 Drew Norsen who went 5 innings allowing just 1 earned run and 3 K’s.

 

Dakota Ridge 4 Valor 1
All the runs for both teams came in the first inning.  Valor scored 1 in the top of the 1st and Dakota Ridge answered with 4 in the bottom to win on Saturday.  Both pitchers did a great job, for Dakota Ridge 2019 Air Force Academy commit Ryan Stohr went a complete game allowing just 3 hits, 1 earned run and 13 strikeouts.  For Valor 2021 Radek Birkholz went 3 innings allowing 2 earned runs and 3 strikeouts, and then 2022 Braeden Lock went 3 innings allowing just 1 hit and 3 strikeouts.

Longmont 3 Thompson Valley 1
Both teams combined for just 5 hits, but that was enough for Longmont to pull out the win scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th.  Longmont’s 2021 Devon Nowells was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s, and pitching for Longmont starter 2021 Owen Kroeger went 4 innings allowing 0 earned runs, 2 hits and 3 K’s, 2021 Jake Ouweneel pitched 2 scoreless innings, and 2019 Leif Nuesken pitched 1 scoreless inning. 

Legacy 3 Monarch 1
Until the bottom of the 5th inning, there were no runs scored, but then Legacy added a run in that inning, and added another 2 in the bottom of the 6th after Monarch had tied the game in the top of the 6th inning.  Legacy answered in the bottom of the 6th scoring 2 runs.  Legacy was led by, 2021 Macully Sehr who was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and pitcher 2019 Dylan Grierson who went 5.1 innings, allowed just 2 hits and 6 strikeouts.
