Updated 2018 Rankings

Thu November 10, 2016

John Cackowski
State Director

In the winter of 2015 PBR Colorado released our first ever 2018 rankings which consisted of 40 players. In the past two years Prep Baseball Report Colorado has had the opportunity to cover amateur baseball like no other organization has ever been able to do before in the state of Colorado. Between scouting numerous games this fall from our last 2018 rankings posted in August, and having a great opportunity to see more 2018 grads at the Top Prospect Games and Colorado Fall Prospect Games, we were able to move our 2018 ranking list to 125 players.

Our next big 2018 rankings update will be posted after our Preseason All-State in February.

Staying at No.1 2018  is RHP Cole Winn of Silver Creek. 6-foot-1, 170 pounds. The Notre Dame is one of the top pitchers in his age class in the country. Arm is flat out electric. Fastball was 90-91 mph, but he has touched 93 before. Has a wipeout slider with late depth at 76-77 mph. Solid change at same arm speed that lives at 81-82 mph.Winn over the last year has impressed many scouts across the country, and recently impressed at Jupiter playing for the Houston Astros Scout team where he struck out 8 in 3 innings. To read about that click here. Winn is positioning himself to be a potential high draft pick after he graduates high school.

Staying at No. 2 is OF Tanner O'Tremba of Cherry Creek HS. Recently committed to Texas Tech. 6-foot, 210 pounds. Bats and throws right. O'Tremba is one of the best players in Colorado who always produces in games, and has freakish athletic skills. O'Tremba has reached a 97 mph exit velo with us off a tee, and in CF ranges very well, and has a plus arm from the OF. O'Tremba ran a 6.9 laser timed 60 at the Top Prospect Games, and we have had under 6.9 before. Looks and plays like a full back. Last spring O'Tremba was an offensive force for Cherry Creek carrying the Bruins to the 5A Final 8. O'Tremba batted .493 with 6 homeruns, and 34 RBI's to go along with 9 doubles and 11 stolen bases last spring. Expect him to also toe the rubber again in 2017 after sitting out last spring with some shoulder soreness. We have had O'Tremba up to 88 mph on the mound.

Staying at No. 3 in our rankings is 1B/LHP Justin Olson of Pine Creek. 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. Bats and throws left. The Kentucky commit has been tearing up high school pitchers since his freshman year. Olson has advanced power potential. He stands in a slight crouch at the plate, and has no problem turning on any inside fastball. Recently in our Atkinson Memorial Tournament he went on a three game run in which he drove in 10 runs in the first 15 innings, highlighted by a 400 foot plus 3-run bomb to right center. At the Top Prospect Games Olson showed well with an 89 mph exit velo off the tee, and on the mound showcasing an 82 mph arm with a nasty CB with 1/7 sharp tilt at 71 mph.

Staying at No. 4 is ASU commit C Luke Leisenring of Ralston Valley. The 6-foot-3, 185 pound switch hitting catcher has a ton of projectibility. At the plate has an open stance with slight crouch. Hands are loose and ready to get out in front to be on time. Has gap to gap power from both sides of the plate. In Atkinson Memorial we had Leisenring at a 1.9 in game pop-time off pitcher. Extremely impressive catch and throw receiver, plus left-handed. Swing works well. To see video Click Here.
