In 2016 our site reached over 150,000 page views and counting for the first time. The other day we began our season countdown of Top 25 most viewed profiles and stories of 2016. Coming in at the No. 13 most viewed profile in 2016 is Valor Christian HS RHP/3B, and University of Pepperdine commit Luke Ziegler with 923 views. Here is a look at his current profile.

6-foot-2, 175-pound. Bats and throws right.  At the plate he stands tall and athletic and a little wider then last time we saw him. Generates good bat whip through the zone, and gets good separation. Hands are loose and gets good extension. Bat has level swing path that stays in hitting zone a long time. He hits off a firm front side with an exit velocity of 87 MPH.  In the field he shows smooth actions and a quick release.  He was accurate with an 83 MPH arm across the diamond, but we have at 85 mph before.  On the mound he stands tall and falls towards 1st. He lands in-line with good extension out front and throws from a high ¾ arm slot.  He showed good command of all three pitches.  He featured an 86 MPH fastball with late movement, a 64 MPH curve with 11/5 break and a 75 MPH change that lived down in the zone. Ran a 7.40 laser timed 60.

6-foot-2, 175-pounds. Bats and throws right. On the mound he stands tall and falls to the plate.  He lands slightly closed and throws from a high ¾ arm slot.  He showed good command of all three pitches. Worked at 83-84 mph but touched 85 MPH a few times with late movement, a 64 MPH curve with 11/5 break and a 75 MPH change that lived down in the zone. Took a 2-hit shutout into the 6th innings and dominated a good hitting Farmers team.  On the season Ziegler is 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA in 35 innings pitched.

6-foot-2, 175-pound right hand hitter who ran a 4.3 home to first.  At the plate he stands tall and balanced.  He has a short stride and hands keep the bat in the zone for an extended period.  He hits off a firm front side with an exit velocity of 87 MPH.  In the field he shows smooth actions and a quick release.  He was accurate with an 85 MPH arm across the diamond.  On the mound he stands tall and falls to the plate.  He lands slightly closed and throws from a high ¾ arm slot.  He showed good command of all three pitches.  He featured an 85 MPH fastball with late movement, a 64 MPH curve with 11/5 break and a 75 MPH change that lived down in the zone.


8-8-15

6-foot-1, 165-pound, third base and right-handed pitcher. Was recognized as having the best swing in the 2018. Looks even more athletic then since we last saw him in January. Defensively, he shows good feet and a quick arm produced 82 mph velocity across the diamond which was way up from 66 at January event.  At the plate he hits from a straight balanced upright stance, gets his front foot down early with a long stride.  Has a level, line drive swing with long finish and good hands to the ball.  Exit velocity was 85 mph  Time will help Luke continue to grow and develop. Luke ran a 7.7 60 time. On the mound he looks very polished and smooth. Arm works well from high 3/4 slot. Has long legs so you can see he's going to fill out. Was consistently 80 mph touching 81, and a 66 mph curveball with 11/5 shape.

6-foot-1, 165-pound, third base and right-handed pitcher.  Well put together and athletic.  Defensively, he shows good feet and a quick arm produced 66 mph velocity across the diamond.  As he grows his arm will get more whip which will increase velocity in the field.  At the plate he hits from a straight balanced upright stance, gets his front foot down early with a long stride.  Hits against a firm front side with nice lower leg drive through the zone.  Exit velocity was 81 mph at the invitational and showed good plate coverage.  Time will help Luke continue to grow and develop.  Ran a 5.22 home to first. Ziegler was also mentioned in our top tools article as 2018 player at event who shows most projectablity.
