Colorado's Top Uncommitted 2023s

Mike Anderson
PBR Colorado Scouting Director

The 2023 PBR Colorado Rankings have been updated.  The expanded list has reached 170+ players and will continue to add as PBR Events continue and PBR Scouting evaluates the championship high school seasons.  With only 13 players from the 2023 class committed, this 2023 class should be one to follow closely.  It is loaded with collegiate talent waiting for opportunities  The 2022 Colorado Class recently passed the 160 count in player commitments.

Below, we take a look at the top six uncommitted prospects in the 2023 class.

Chase Jaworsky OF / SS / Rock Canyon, CO / 2023

Jaworsky’s smooth left handed swing has produced 8 home runs this year and helped spring board him to No. 6 in the 2023 class. Our staff knew he was primed for a big season following his loud round of BP at the CO Preseason All-State event. Good looking athletic frame on Jaworsky at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds and it's the smooth, projectable left-handed stroke that jumps out but there's other tools in there as well. We've had him up 88 mph on the infield and he's also a sub 7.00 runner.

Brandon Sanchez SS / 2B / Legacy, CO / 2023

Sanchez enters our top ten and deservedly so after showing well during the CO Preseason All-State and following it up with a stellar high school season so far. Sanchez is a coach's dream, playing with an edge at all times and leading with production. He's a toolsy middle infielder who moves well, has arms strength across the diamond and consistently hits balls hard from the right-side. Gap-to-gap hitter with a good approach.

JT Shank 1B / OF / Rock Canyon, CO / 2023

Shank is a 6-foot, 190-pound 1B/OF who consistently hits balls hard from the left side. He's balanced with a middle of the field approach and the power continues to enter his game (top EV of 95.5). He has good feet on infield and attacks the ball. He'll need to continue to hit to stick at first base and it looks like there'll be no issues in that department. An intriguing uncommitted prospect who looks the part of a player ready for a high level of college baseball.

Hunter Gotschall RHP / OF / Douglas County, CO / 2023

RHP Hunter Gotschall was a member of Colorado's 2021 Future Games squad and impressed with a fastball that was up to 89mph with high spin. He impressed last year and carried that into this high school season where he's been a major contributor to Douglas County's success. The fastball continues to sit 85-89 and he works with a good looking slider as well. One of the top uncommitted arms in Colorado.

Bowen Tabola C / SS / Cherokee Trail, CO / 2023

Tabola is another name on this list who's balled out during the high school season so far. It seems like every time we have a scout watching Cherokee Trail, Tabola picks up several base knocks and it's usually one or two for extra-bases. An intriguing overall package from Tabola as he's a good receiver with a quick catch and throw, consistently around 2.00 in-game. Another member of our 2021 Future Games team.

Marcus Romero OF / 2B / Legacy, CO / 2023

OF/2B Marcus Romero's big, athletic frame immediately jumps out as a body ready to play at the next level... 6-foot-4, 185-pounds. He's a +runner and athlete who had one of the best showings at our Preseason All-State event, showcasing tools across the board. He had an exit velocity of 99mph, outfield velocity of 90mph and a home-to-1st time of 3.80.

Ethan Dillinger LHP / Erie, CO / 2023

LHP Ethan Dillinger has been one of the best 2023 arms on the high school scene this spring for Erie. The left-hander has been racking up the punchouts recently with a fastball in the mid 80s and he's flashed good spin with the pitch during our PBR events. The top left-hander still available in Colorado's 2023 class.

Brett Rozman C / 3B / Palisade, CO / 2023

C/3B Brett Rozman jumped out at the Northern Colorado ID with several tools, including strong catching capabilities. The right-handed hitter looks to do damage at the plate with a top exit velocity of 96mph. It's not often you see this kind of speed from a well regarded catcher... He ran a 3.83 home-to-1st and had pop times of 1.90-1.92.

Derek Olsen C / 3B / Legacy, CO / 2023

Olsen’s strong frame stands out. Shows flexibility and agility as catcher and receiving skills are very good. Great transition and transfer and shows a consistent pop time below 1.95. Had a 2-2 day with 2RBI’s and showed discipline in AB’s.  Great timing with load and middle of the field approach. Great Uncommitted Catcher to follow in the 2023 Class.
