denver id quick hits: the seniors

Englewood, CO-  On January 23 , 2022,  PBR Colorado started the year off with the Denver Preseason ID Event at Slammers in Englewood, Colorado. The day was full of great indoor batting cage evaluations with the opportunity to get outside on turf for our defensive evaluations.

Our staff strategically hosts Preseason ID events throughout the state in search of players who have taken advantage of the offseason, identifying new prospects to add to our follow lists or players our staff is already familiar with who are on the rise. This event gave a perfect opportunity to secure invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events such as the Centennial State Games, West Coast, and PBR Future Games and Jr. Future Games.

Today, we take a look top performers and performances from our 2022 Senior Class:

Zach Butler SS / RHP / Columbine, CO / 2022

Showed solid base with strong rotational acceleration and top exit velo of 91 mph. Butler used a middle of the field approach with quick hands and in/out stroke. He’s versatile as a defender on the infield where he was 76 mph across the diamond. Butler also showed two-way skills. As a right-handed pitcher his fastball topped out at 82.9 mph with a curveball 66 and changeup at 71 mph. He pounded the zone with a simple, repeatable delivery.

Peter D'Agostino SS / RHP / Eagle Valley, CO / 2022

Long levered and lean with lots of potential. D’Agostino has good bat speed and shows some pull side tendency. His top exit velocity on the day was 92.9 mph. An athlete with continued development ahead . 4.08 home to first time and he was 71 mph on the middle infield.

Bradley Blakemore OF / 3B / D' Evelyn Jr. and Sr. High School, CO / 2022

Balanced base with gradual load and very good rotational acceleration. He showed a consistent live drive path with slight lift and a middle of the field approach with a top exit velocity of 86.2 mph. Blakemore has great athleticism in the outfield and was 4.03 home to first.

Matthew Yarish RHP / 2B / Columbine, CO / 2022

Tall, upright stance with open front side as a right-handed hitter. Gradual load with a toe-tap stride and does a good job using rear side.  Slight pull tendency and there was strong barrel contact during his round of BP with a top exit velocity of 90 mph. As a right-handed pitcher, the fastball topped out at 82.4 mph while the curveball was 69 mph and the changeup was 74 mph.

Jonah Johnson RHP / 3B / Discovery Canyon, CO / 2022

Strong upside for Jonah. He continues to show improvement in refining mechanics and repeatable delivery. Great tempo in his delivery and leg lift has a coiled approach. Over the top release and Johnson stayed in the zone with all his pitches. Fastball topped out 85.8, with a curveball at 72.6 mph with 12/6 action. He also mixed in a changeup at 78 mph. Project continued development beyond high school.
