An awesome effort by 2016 Silver Creek Grad Austin Wood hoisted Slammers Holzemer 16U to a 6-0 win in seven innings over Florida Burn 2016 Gold on Tuesday at Old Cass HS, Cartersville, GA. Wood has had a good summer for Slammers and has been making some national noise. Austin did real well at the Team USA National Championships in AZ. He was also clocked at 90 and 91 mph at the Cincinnati Reds Area Code Workouts. Wood's 13 strikeouts helped Slammers Holzemer 16U to the victory. Wood tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only one hit.

Slammers bats came to life in the fifth inning. Florida Burn 2016 Gold had no answer as Slammers Holzemer 16U scored five runs. Slammers scored in the fifth on a two-run single by 2016 Columbine Grad Tommy Gillman, and an RBI single by 2016 Highlands Ranch Grad Aaron Dammel

2016 Lewis Palmer Grad Paul Tillotson and PBR Colorado First Team 4A All-State player also had a good day and was perfect at the dish, going 2-2.

Slammers never surrendered the lead after the fourth inning, scoring one run on an RBI triple by 2016 Green Mountain Grad and 2014 PBR All Colorado Team member Wyatt Featherston
